Thats not true, im running 2 x 1gig at 1T without problem. you just need to change the burst lenght to 8 and it will run happily at 1T
Yeah, thats how I got my 2 x 512mb running @ 1T
Good to know it still works with 2 x 1GB sticks.

Has anyone ever experianced artifacts on the screen after the fsb has been pumped up?

The video card is an X1800 XT and is not overclocked.

I sometimes had this happen to me with my ati card and my ultra d mb, sometimes if I drastically changed the fsb say from 200 to 300 I would get strange artifacting, a reboot would solve it though. don’t seem to get it with nvidia cards. only ever happens with very large increases of bus frequency though.

Im having a epic setting T1 with this board. Tryed 2 sets of Ram and i get BSODS with T1 Enabled. I also have tryed Burstx8 with no luck.

Using 1.80 Bios. Also ive done the Vcore Mod is there a certain bios or will it be fine with all. Cheers

For me the new bioses work ok but the system fails prime98 within minutes and sometimes super pi.

With bios 1.2 and 1.5 can run and pass any test including memtest at:

-10x274 with 133 memory divider (1.45v in bios but speedfan reads 1.48v)

-10x265 with 166 memory divider (1.425 in bios, mem at 220 & 1T)

With bios 1.7 or 1.8 my set up is 10x268, mem at 223 1T and 1.45v. The system is memtest86 and gaming stable but fail prime95 and sometimes superpi. I thought the problem was a corrupted bios after playing with the OCZ booster (which I am returning) but after reinstalling windows I still having the same problems.

The funny thing with my old stable settings and the new bioses (with the new memory settings) my rig now fails prime95  but I can play battlefield 2 for hours without any problems

So running now bios 1.8, 10x268 and 166 divider. System stable (gaming internet etc) but prime95 fails (I just getting used to ignore this test ;)

anybody else with similar problem?????

run memtest86+ test 8 for 5 loops. then come post your results.
second step is to run snm 1.8.0 to test the cpu. then post your results agin after a 1 hour mest at 100% fpu test.

memtest is error free for 8 hours, and test 8 alone for an hour.

I have now 10x278 prime95 stable but with memory divider at 133. I believe the problem is the bios does not like the 166 divider with more than 265 fsb :o

what is snm 1.8.0 ???

by the way what stepping is your opteron? quite impressive overclock you have.
and what speed has your crucial? using 133 divider?

Hey guys. I've just ordered this motherboard, but i dont have a CPU yet! :p

Would just like to know if an Opteron 144 would overclock ok with it?

Theres so many pages in this thread i dont know where to look, so hopefully someone can clear this up for me?

Also, if theres anything else i need to be aware of, let me know!

Thanks anyone :D

If you want to get the max overclock you can (and your chip happens to respond to higher volts) then you may want to do the Vcore mod. Can be done either with conductive paint or solder.

Do some reading up on this mod as there are a few different versions of it around.

You either want to use Beta 2 OCW bios or the new Official 1.8 bios as they don't have the HTT lock on them. As the 144 has a lower multi than the 146 you will need high HTT (FSB) speeds.

I would really read at least the first 10-20 pages of this thread though as it will cover much of what you need to know.

high guys i am quite new to this overclocking lark so a bit of help would be appreciated , the bios settings on this board are totally different to my last board .
first i have an opty 146 and ballistix pc4000 i would like to run these at 1:1 at 250 fsb what settings do i need to change i.e where is the equivelant to the htt multiplyer and how do you increase fsb speeds ?
and second this ballistix runs best at 2.8v what settings does that equate to please i.e high ?

Does anyone know where to get some updated drivers for the audio on this board? Im having bother with BF2s VOIP and EA say if your on AC97 then you need to update your drivers.

Cheers

Go to Realtek's website and download the driver package for AC97 codecs. The ones that Asrock have listed on their website are very out of date.

Geez its been ages since ive been on this thread. Now i read from the last post that the bios is 1.8! how bout that

slap ed is fresh for some marlarky, aye fellas!yeah socket A is an easy place to start mate, although you got good ram to start with.Get yourself a ocz rambooster and be careful if you got ballistix(the ones that melts a hells fire, that is)...

But the asrock???

How far have we come!
whos got 1:1
How far has the bios come, now that the htt is undone?

Thats my ditty.Whats your answer? How good is this bios.

My clocks are the same for my asrock as in sig for dual 2004 sp stable.More volts needed=Pelt or someting.Whats the 1.8 like in a nutshell please?Easy going beta bios rebadge? or other..... maybe you know ....maybe you answered it on another page...hey im really curious

God dam cr*py bios flashing (why have they not sorted this out yet     )

So the board came with bios 1.5, i installed and all was fine but very light on any OC features. I tried to flash to 1.8 official with the official bios flasher and the board is now dead...

Reminds me of early DFI days

I know mine's not the same motherboard (I've the SLI dual Esata2), but I'm sure it's not vastly different, flashing the BIOS was unbelievably easy from within windows and apart from the lack of a decent max. vcore voltage it's a superb board, I've even managed to keep my 2.6ghz overclock while using 4 sticks of PC3200, still perfectly stable.

Back again folks...! :D I'd like some advice please, would anyone have some nice memory to recommend to go with this board and an AMD Athlon 64 3700+ ?

I've noticed lots of people having problems getting a 1T setting on this board.

The G.Skill 2GB DDR HS PC3200 i standing out at the moment, if anyone has a suitable alternative please let me know! :) I'm looking to spend upto £180.

Thanks.
