**The ASrock 939dual-SATA2 (ULi M1695) thread**

Just won one of those AM2CPU boards

Dear Sir/Mdm,

Thanks for your long-term support for ASRock Motherboards!

It's my pleasure to inform you that you have won yourself an AM2CPU Board from ASRock. Please confirm the information below and reply to our webmaster by August 10th, in order to send the prize to the correct address.

:D:D

How crazy. Does anyone have the AM2CPU board? I can't find it for sale anywhere in the UK - only american sites that sell it for like $30-40 dollers - thats a great price - i'm well pleased - except for one little thing - they charge like 80$ shipping to the UK!

Got the board today and I'm having some trouble. It posts and just sits there with 0075 in the corner, for around one minute, and then continues.

Anyone else having/had this problem? It doesn't even run through the drives, just the memory, then the pause. Then carries on as normal after the huge pause.

try setting your hard drive jumper to Cable Select

A bit of help and advice please guys,

I am going to have to install this board over the next few days and I just want to make sure everything goes fine. My kit will cosist of

ASR dualsata mobo
AMD 3800X2
NV 7900GT
2 GB Corsair Ram (2x1 PC3200)
2x80gb SATA (want to run in RAID 0)
1 x 120Gb IDE
DVDRW

So a few questions,

1) I am not sure what bios my board has - would this be a problem if I just stuck my X2 in striaght away.

2) Am I better using the 'new' unified ULi drivers (2.20?) rather than the ones on the CD

3) what bios would be best for some mild o/cing (2.20?)

4) I'm not using the AGP slot so can I get away with not installing my AGP drivers

5) will there be any probs using my 2x80 SATA drives in RAID O (as main drive)- where's best to get the drivers for them?

any other hints and tips for getting most out of this board.

Thanks for any help :) :)

I'm thinking of ordering one of these boards tonight or tomorrow to go with a A64 4000+.

I've never heard of the ULi M1695 Chipset, is it any good? Has anyone's board died on them or have they had any problems with them? ASROCK are very cheap and it makes you think that they must cut corners somewhere.

Here :D

Mine, which I bought recently came with BIOS version 1.70. Updated to latest 2.20. Also, had problems with drivers from ASRock's own website, i.e. lock-ups. Now using ULi Integrated Driver 2.20 & system is running fine

So, what are peoples experiences with BIOS 2.20? I'm still running 1.20 and wondering if it's worth updating. Highest revision I ever tried was 1.60 but 1.20 has always worked better for me.

No problems with 2.2 here, allows me to push my 144 right upto 2.88GHz (1.45v) on air. :D

I have an AMD x2 3800+ but can only get 2.5 stable with my other bits below and a volt mod to 1.55, Think I need to play more :)

One place they "cut corners" is the chipset - it's cheap because ULi were trying to gain market share. However, it's not at all bad. It will hold its own against nForce4. I'm sure the general quality is lower than a board costing twice as much and a few features aren't included (e.g. gigabit LAN), but it's a decent board. It has a few quirks (e.g. mine will not detect a HDD on a reboot, only on a cold boot) and a lot of BIOS revisions, but it's excellent for the price.

I've not overclocked in a long time so need some help please. So far I have my 4000+ up to 2.64GHz (I know it's only a small OC but it's a start) and under 100% load temps don't get higher than 47.

Running Prime95 now and it fails the first test in the blend test (Test 1, 4000 Lucas-Lehmer iterations of M19922945 using 1024K FFT length).

I set another test going that stresses the memory less and so far so good as it's completed 10 tests. What can i change to in the bios to stop it failing the test.

4000+
2x512MB PC4000 Crucial Ballistix

Core Speed 2.64GHz
CPU Freq 220
Mem Clock 166
CPU - NB Link Speed 800

All the memory timings are set to auto.

Any help apreciated.

Opteron 165 - Plenty available but the x9 multiplier worries me. I am running the latest BIOS (v2.2) which removes the FSB cap but I am struggling to find many people clocking around/above 300 on this board.
Well I went for the Opteron 165 and it would seem my fears were well founded. My board doesn't like running at 300+. At 300 I get random reboots and a 310 it won't even post. So I am currently running at 289 which at least gives me an FX-60 equivalent. Its a real shame though because I am sure the CPU has more scope, as it will happily run at 2.6 on stock volts.

The only trouble with an FSB of 289 is that my memory now only runs at 185 as I have to use a 133 divider (166 is too much). A 150 divider would be ideal - I had a go with A64Tweaker but that just caused a reboot when I tried selecting 150 on the MEMCLK.

Has anyone managed to get the 150 divider working on the ASRock?

got mine to run fine at 300+ but needed a divider of 5 so pointless from that point of view :(

have you done the volt mod, it might just need more than 1.45.
