**The ASrock 939dual-SATA2 (ULi M1695) thread**

Same area as the cas bit. Memory is usualy specified as CAS-TRCD-TRP-TRAS but yours looks printed as CAS-TRAS-TRCD-TRP. So id set it up like this in the Bios :-

CAS = 3
TRAS =8
TRP = 4
TRCD =4
TRRD = Auto (board will likely set at 2)
TRC = Auto (board will likely set at 10)
MA(Command rate) 2T (1T very rarly works on this board but can try)

i have 2 of these boards 1 with mixed generic ram and a 3700+ SD, 1 with G.Skill ram and an Opteron 144 and both run at 1T perfectly fine

In my case I cant get any mem to work at 1T. Test 8 always fails in memtest regardless of other timmings and the same modules work 100% on other boards. strangely the outer blue slots only offer me the chance to test 2T. The inner black slots cause the machine to crash/reset and evan cause memtest graphical corruption if 1T is enabled . Its worth noting that all my mem sticks (various 256,512,1024 modules) are all corsair.......maybe I should look to other brands ;)

Was thinking of getting a set of the 3500 as my friend got some for his x2 rig and is doing wonders, though he uses a different mobo.
I'd rather not do the voltmod (lazy, little exp with electronics but prolly could do it) so i'd also like to know if the 3500 will work fine on stock volt and how far an OC it will achieve. I'm only looking to go up to about 2.5ghz if possible (using an x2 3800) so would the 3500 be ok or should I go higher?

On a seperate note, i'm currently using 2x256 of micron pc2100... I know... really is time to upgrade which is why its next on my list. :P
According to cpu-z i'm running at cas2.5/3/3/6/9 and at 2T, can I get my current ram to run at 1T?

Oh i'm also still using the 1.20 bios that it came with, might try updating to latest later since having to turn the pc off and on almost every time I want to reboot is beginning to get annoying.

I have a 3500ll 2 gig set and it runs fine on this board without any mods, although it won't run at 1T, believe me I have tried, also got a 3800 at 2550 which on a divider gives me 212.5 mhz on the memory which is only slightly off the 218 it runs at. I got lucky with the 3800 as it's doing that speed at stock volts, a lot of chips wont :(

Your 3800 is 1.4v stock volts ?

mine is 1.3v stock and currently running at 2400. max i can set is 1.35v and that can get me upto 2500. 2600 looks reachable but prime95 eventually fails so maybe ill try for 2550 at some point. current memory in use is 2x512 corsair 3200xl in blue slots 2-2-2-5. As mentioned above this combination also doesnt like 1T as memtest8 fails, same mem works 100% in my Abit nf7. :(

AAAARRRGGGGG

wish i'd found this thread before buying 1 :mad:

i decided to get this board when i saw how cheap OC were selling the 4000+ for
& i didnt want to ditch my 6600gt or my aspire 550w psu, plus my 2500+ was getting on a bit.

as ive still got an older CM 201 praetorian case, i just unplugged all the connectors,
slide out the mobo tray & put the new 1 in, i connected a 74gb raptor,2 x 512 kingston 3200 sticks,
2 writers, arctic freezer pro, fan controller & 4 fans, 6600gt, x-fi extreme, & a few usb cables.

pluggging them all in was dumb i know :o

i eventually twigged about just trying the mobo, gfx, 1 ram stick & the hdd.

when i put the power cable in & flicked the back psu power button, it started by its self ?
wouldnt even post, it had the usual black screen, & it beeped once,
tried to switch off with the front power button, it didnt work, neither did the reset button,
thought i might have connected the headers wrong, nope, then had the bright idea of
checkin the as5 thickness as this is the 1st time ive used it & normally use akasa tim pads,
cleaned everything off & put some more on a bit thinner, cleared the cmos &
tried again but still no luck !
but this time it only stayed on for about a sec or 2 before shutting down ?

i decided on splashing out on a enermax liberty 620 psu & hopefully this'll solve things.

is there anything i've missed ??

Does anyone know if the OCZ Booster works with this board?
ASRock 939Dual-SATA2 FAQ said:
Yes, DDR Booster works with 939Dual-SATA2. DDR Booster takes up 2 slots space, you will have to insert the DDR Booster into slot#2 and have your memory modules in slot#3 and slot#4.
Note: Inserting DDR Booster in slot#4 is highly not recommended because there is not enough space between the sockets and the components on the DDR Booster will have contact (highly hazardous) with the memory module in slot#2.
Here :)

Hi this is my first post on these forums so hello all!
I have this motherboard with a geforce 6600gt PCI-e 256mb. I want to upgrade it in the next few months.
Can any of u point me in the direction of a decent upgrade from this site that is compatible with this motherboard... Thanks!

What's the highest spec card i can get that will be compatible doesn't matter about cost really. I'm a bit of a novice with computers so i'm unsure!

What you doing with the machine? My nipper plays everything including Oblivion (exept FEAR 'caus he's scared of it - LOL) on reasonable settings on his new 7600gt! Also, it doesn't need any extra power connectors :D
A possible bottleneck may be you're PSU, is it powerfull enough for a 7950? or X1900XT-X? This MOBO should support almost anything you throw at it, AGP or PCI-e! ;)

Helps if you give a budget. But basically aim for the X1800XT or if you can afford it (considering the price drops) a X1900XT. All this will also depend on your PSU & if it can 'handle' (see here) ;)

I just got one of these, plus the AM2CPU board, the 2gb GEIL DDR2 4-4-4-12 kit which was on special and a 3800 X2 cpu, however when I set the DDR2 memory to 400Mhz in the bios, CPUz still reports the ram to be running at 333mhz.

Any ideas whats going on? Oh yeh, and seeing the command rate to 1T won't even allow windows to boot!

Remember to set the agp pci lock to asynchronous.

Is this still nessicary on newer versions of the mobo with newer bios' ?

I have the latest BIOS but have no idea what should be what...

My gaming performance could be better - and as explained above CPUz see's the memory as 333 while the bios is set to 400 :s

Im not sure what ive done wrong with this board but connecting to game servers seems to be a lot slower now , i had a neo2 platinum before this with 2gb ram and i connected very quickly , i still have the same ram in this board but it seems to take an age to connect , maybe theres a setting in the bios that would help ?
