Has anyone had problems with SATAII drives on this board?

Ive got a Seagate Baracuda 7200.10 320gb drive and it keeps disconnecting in My Computer.

It can sometimes work fine for days, but today everytime I try and do something on the drive I get windows errors and it drops out of My Computer.

I have tried both SATA and SATAII ports, changing from SATA to IDE mode, Strong and normal.

Have installed the drivers too.

Getting fed up with this board, always problems with it.

Eventvwr states:
-----------------------------------------
Event ID:15
The device, \Device\Harddisk2\D, is not ready for access yet.
-----------------------------------------

Got exactly the same drive on this board and no problems at all running on the Sata2 port, or the Sata1 for that matter :D

Hi guys,

Could somebody please advise me what BIOS settings I should set to ensure that mr system is running at optimum efficiency? I'm a bot of a noob on this subject, and the settings on this board seem a bit different from ones i've had in the past. My kit is:

Athlon XP 64 3200 Venice Core
2x512 Paired Crucial Ballistics 4000(DDR500)

I have attempted to work this out for myself by reading through this thread, but it's a little overwhelming.

Thanks.

Hello

Ive just ordered one of these boards an a x1800xt

Can some one tell me what revision bios is currently being supplied with the boards and is there any need to update the bios and is there an 'all in one' driver pack ? if not can some one plz tell me the exact process of installing the drivers to avoid any conflicts.

Thank you

p.s while i appreciate this has no doubt now been covered many times in this thread the thread its self is HUGE and searching through 2000+ replies is quite disheartening :(

Here :D

Mine, which I bought recently came with BIOS version 1.70. Updated to latest 2.20. Also, had problems with drivers from ASRock's own website, i.e. lock-ups. Now using ULi Integrated Driver 2.20 (use link above to get it) & system is running fine
& welcome to the club ;)

Thanks hp7909 , reading through that thread now

Just a quick question , do i need to install the AGP drivers if im using a pci-e card ?
Use the Integrated drivers (here) like I suggested & you don't have to worry about all that. Besides they are more stable than any on ASRock's own site & supplied disc :)

does anybody know if the newer 939dual-vsta version of this board is just as good? and does it have the same overclocking features?i've just got this version delivered and don't know if to keep it or not.

I thought i would just post up a quick 'living with the ASrock 6 months later' report. :D

Its not usually my style to opt for a cheaper model as I usually went for top specification high-end brands but for some reason, just this once, I liked the idea of a capable underdog rearing its head.

So I went for the ASrock and for the past 6 months its been;

- 100% stable and reliable
- has overclocked my Opteron 144, 55% to 2.8GHz!
- will soon be pushing past 2.8GHz to 3GHz with the volt mod
- has stable and high voltages across all areas
- and has provided a solid platform for my progression from AGP to PCI-e

So even in these late stages, onlookers considering this mobo should not hesitate to jump aboard as you'll be hard pressed to beat the ASrock at this price point (infact I doubt you can).

Just my 2p. :)

Just got this board with a nsk4400 case and psu and it's not booting up at all, fans just turn on and that's it.

Using
a64 3000+ winnie
1GB Patriot xblk
AGP 6800 NU

Anyone have any advice?

I've tried putting the memory in different slots and also tried some cruicial memory from working computer.

Sometimes when I turn it on it beeps once then does 7 or 10 quick beeps.

have you got the newer 939dual-vsta version?not too clued up yet but have you tried it with just one stick of memory in?as i think people have had problems with memory.

while on the subject of my original post, does anyone know if the uli intergrated drivers will be the same for the newer version of this board(dual939-vsta) that i have?

I reset the cmos and tried an old agp card and I was able to get into the bios. It is version 1.10.

When I tried to use my 6800 NU I just get a blank screen so I think it dead from when my shuttles psu went.

looks like i'll have to get a new gfx card unless anyone has any other thoughts on what it could be

Edit
just went and brought a 7300 gt DDR3

Is the Corsair TwinX2048 3500ll pro memory set known to work with this board at all without volt mods ?.

I only ask as some i recently purchased doesnt work well at all at any settings and hopeing a replacment pair will be ok.

:o

Was thinking of getting a set of the 3500 as my friend got some for his x2 rig and is doing wonders, though he uses a different mobo.
I'd rather not do the voltmod (lazy, little exp with electronics but prolly could do it) so i'd also like to know if the 3500 will work fine on stock volt and how far an OC it will achieve. I'm only looking to go up to about 2.5ghz if possible (using an x2 3800) so would the 3500 be ok or should I go higher?

On a seperate note, i'm currently using 2x256 of micron pc2100... I know... really is time to upgrade which is why its next on my list. :P
According to cpu-z i'm running at cas2.5/3/3/6/9 and at 2T, can I get my current ram to run at 1T?

Oh i'm also still using the 1.20 bios that it came with, might try updating to latest later since having to turn the pc off and on almost every time I want to reboot is beginning to get annoying.

Ok i have abit of a n00b question regarding my RAM on this mobo , i have 4 x512 sticks of geil value and i need to know where to enter the timing values , i currently have my opty 146 cpu overclocked to 2700, 270 HTT ram divider at 133 i think

the timmings for my ram are ment to be CAS 3.0 8-4-4 on 2gb

Now heres the n00b bit , i dont know where to put each value in the bios , i know where the memory section is but i only know the what CAS value is:

where do i put the 8-4-4 values ?

I hope some one knows what im getting at lol

:( :D
