**The ASrock 939dual-SATA2 (ULi M1695) thread**

Dalex, once you've installed your ethernet card drivers, turn the power off to your cable modem, wait about 30 seconds and turn it back on.

Because you've changed your network card(i.e.moved to a different motherboard), you will be assigned a new ip address by blueyonder; if you don't turn the modem off and let it reconfigure itself, you wont be able to access the internet.

Good point, could be just that simple.

can you run me through how to set it up without blueyonder disc ,it is on fresh installation of xp pro and i will get the latest drivers from asrock site and put them in.
i find the blueyonder disc cheeky when it says it is checking my system
cheers

Putting it basically.......

Turn off and on your modem (actually pull the power lead from it for say 30 secs)

See if you now get on the net.

No?

Go to device manager in control panel and see if there is a question mark next to the network adaptor.

If there is it means there is no driver installed for it. just install the nic driver, reboot (and turn off/ on your modem again) and you *should* be ok.

Oh, in bios the nic should be enabled by default from memory.......worth checking if all this don't work though.

Good luck. :)

Dalex, you don't need to use the blueyonder disk at all. It just configures some email settings and installs crud that you don't really need. If you were connecting to your modem via a USB port, then you may need the drivers off the blueyonder disk.

All you have to do is make sure you have all the relevant motherboard drivers installed, the ethernet driver is one of these(here's a link for the latest driver package MajorGeeks).

Once you're sure that you have the ethernet driver installed, connect the ethernet cable to both your pc and the modem, turn off the power to your cable modem, leave it for at least 30 seconds. Then turn the power to your modem back on, wait for the 4 green lights to stop blinking, then start your pc. When XP as fully loaded, you should then be able to open your browser and access the internet.

HTH, dagwoood.

EDIT: I've got to brush up on my touch typing speed

It doesn't matter what BIOS I use, but if I set the Vcore value from within the BIOS to 1.45v, it will stay at 1.45v until I shut-down my machine. When I next attempt to boot up my system, it wont boot into the POST screen but I have to turn my system off twice and then on the third attempt I get an error screen saying I can either F2 to change my settings or F1 for it to load the defaults.

If I go into my BIOS my CPU voltage settings have changed from a manual setting of 1.45v to the AUTO setting.
I'm having a similar problem, it won't let me change the vcore. If I set the voltage to 1.4V or anything other than auto, when I save the settings and reboot it will change back to auto and go to stock voltage.

Does anyone know of a fix for the slow AGP performance with this board. My 3dmark score is now 1900, before I upgraded the score was 2500. I got this board yesterday and have tried all different drivers.

hi,

using the ocwbeta 2 bios and it seems ok stays at 1.45v.

think the agp performance is a known issue as im fairly certain ive seen posts in this thread, no fix for it as the board is more tuned for pci-e performance.

agp performance on this board is on par with any agp motherboard i get higher 3dmark scores than i did with my P4C800 Delux

only going on other posts in this thread m8, people have ahad similar issues with the drop in agp performance.

got the new drivers from asrock site and didnt need blueyonder disc , new coaster for teacup now
any tips for this board with 3700 cpu , 250 gb samsumg spin point sata II and a dont laugh a 9700 pro
funny enough the system doesnt seem to be lacking in the graphics department , plays gta and pro soccer 5 flawlessly , just for the kids you understand ?
anyway any tips for squeezing any more from it just from the 1.2 bios , not really into flashing bios

cheers

Well not a tip as such but I overclocked my opteron as soon as windows was installed basically.

I found this mobo a doddle to overclock. Even on the 1.2 bios you will be able to get some gains without much effort at all.

What is full spec of your PC, RAM, cooler etc.?

I've tried different flash files and ways of flashing my BIOS, but no matter which BIOS I use, official or OCW beta's, my manual voltage setting wont save.

This has been fixed in official bios 1.5

system is :- asrock dual, amd athlon 64 3700 ,stock cpu cooler , 2 x 512mb kingston pc3200 ram ,samsung sp250 gb sata II,ati agp 9700 pro running as fast as its little legs will carry it .
pioneer 110 dvd burner ,1.2 official bios with everything on auto as i have not had a chance to play with it yet, windows xp pro , xblade case with extra 120 fan drawing out of rear .
as it is a well established board i was hoping to save any experimenting and just dial in the max stable overclock for board and chip combination .
thanks in advance for any tips / help
please excuse english and punctuation , its late

You will still get an overclock out of that but using the stock cpu cooler is going to limit you. A good budget alternative that can be fitted with mobo still in its case is the Arctic Freezer 64 Pro.....around the £14 mark depending on where you get it from.

Many Asrock people on here us it. :)

excellent post, i confirm the labels in the bios are wrong and misleading (especially the memory speed) - this should save a lot of time for 1st time asrock clockers :)

i've just clocked my opty 146 to 2.6GHZ (asrock 1.4 bios) as above and run 3DMark05 but as you say i get no improvement from unclocked 2.0Ghz (results=3015 with a 9800pro)
no change -Why is this?

I have just quoted the above post. Start off with most of those settings *as a guide* but alter them to accomodate your own hardware.

The last paragraph of settings are the most confusing for most (including me) so I basically just set them to what above poster did.........then just start upping the HTT slowly and see what overclock you can get.

Download MBM5 (motherboard monitor 5) to monitor your cpu temperature (set the mobo in the options to an Abit NF7.....) The Asrock isnt in there but the Abit option works fine for this mobo. LOL
