**The ASrock 939dual-SATA2 (ULi M1695) thread**

can people check what they have "PCIE1 TURBO MODE" set to ?

i had the screen blanking out whilst it was set to normal and i think its cured now i set it to disabled. default was "normal" tho.

Excuse my ignorance if this has been asked/solved before, but i read 15 pages and then realised there was 62 pages.

Anyway a friend of mine has this board and has a problem with it, heres what he says:

I'm still having "Issues" with my graphics card. When I try to install the motherboard agp driver, I get a message

"64bit Windows already includes agp driver"

Now this wouldn't be a problem.......if I was running 64bit windows

As a consequence, the card isn't working properly, and neither of the support desks of graphics or mobo have been any help.......Nothing new there then.
Let me give you the sys specs so you can see what I've got (and not)

ASRock 939Dual-SATA2 mobo
Athlon64 3200+
Geforce 7800 GS 256 agp
2xATA133 HD's

being the bits that matter

The board supports RAID/SATA and ATA though my knowledge of R/S is pretty minimal to say the least.
I didn't have it so I didn't pay attention

It also supports agp 8x and pci-e

Pretty much all of the benchmarking tools I've used mention agp problems. 3DMark goes as far as to say it isn't there. (BIOS says its set at 8x)
The thing with 3DMark03 is that it storms through the first 3 game tests, getting huge framerates, but when it hits Mother Nature, it gets a huff on and struggles to average 20fps. CPU tests are a slideshow.
Overall, the card scored 6400, which is less than half what it achieved in the old board.
I'm not getting the full detail levels I should for a card of this quality.........

....So! To the point.....if it thinks I'm running 64bit Windows, maybe I should give it 64bit Windows

..I've just downloaded a six month trial of Windows Professional x64.......and basically know sod all about it

Before I go and do something I will most probably regret, can someone advise me if my bits will fit, will my games run, will any programs work. Can I stick it on another partition or disk and run 32bit xp as well.......Ah, the lack of knowledge is stupifying....

TIA.........

Any help would be appreciated.

format the drive, install winxp preferably with sp2 built into it, and the first thing you do when its loaded is install the ULI intergrated driver from the uli website, i think its upto v2.15 now. DO NOT INSTALL IT FROM THE MOTHERBOARD DISK. then install gfx drivers then everything else.

How good is the SATA2 support on this motherboard, I'm just looking into ordering a new HDD so I can do away with my two 40Gb IDE's. I currently have a 200Gb SATA1 HDD already which has been excellent on this board, is SATA2 ok?

Stu

I've got this board on the way, could do with a little guidence if thats OK.

In terms of drivers, do i install the integrated213 drivers from the ULI site ?

Are these 32bit only ?

Do i need any of the various drivers from the Asrock site ?

Sorry if this has been asked already, i did read a number of pages but couldn't find the answers.

I still get big crashes using this board, my mouse freezes, my sound just beeps constantly then the monitor switches to a black screen saying "no signal" but the PC is still running.

HELP!

Guys, I am having real problems when I install the ATi drivers on this system, as soon as Windows XP loads within 30 seconds it completely locks up and I have to hard switch off. Keyboard/mouse locks up, everything.

I have tried loads of different ATi drivers, 5.12/6.2/6.3 Omega 6.3, everything and it always does the same.

Now the system was working perfectly fine with my AGP 9500 Pro, no problems whatsoever.

I have tried the new card (x800GTO PCIe) in a friends PC and it works perfectly, so its not the card.

I have reinstalled XP 3 times, even rebuilt the XP disk using Nlite from a SP1 disk and integrated SP2 etc etc, still the same problem.

I bought a new PSU off the MM so its not a problem there. Also tried different RAM (although still Corsair XMS).

I have used the Integrated 213 and 220 drivers for the board.

It works fine if I uninstall the drivers for the card and just use XP without them, no crashes at all. It will also work fine WITH the drivers if I boot up into VGA mode or safe mode etc.

What can be the problem????!??! I have the 1.50 standard BIOS, but after problems flashing before where it screwed up I am really not wanting to flash it again (cant think that it would be the BIOS anyway?)

I have changed loads of settings in the BIOS to try that, even disabled 1 core of the 3800 x2, still the same. :(

Everything is at stock now.

I installed XP with the new card in it so no problems there.

Basically its something with the ATi drivers and this board I would guess, but I am flat out of ideas.

This is the way I installed stuff on XP:

Install OS
Install DirectX9c
Install motherboard and chipset drivers
install 10/100 network drivers
Install Audio driver
install Vid drivers

One question, do you need to install the AGP drivers (PCI to AGP ones) when you have a PCIe card?

I am going try try to borrow my friends card tonight (nVidia 6800GT) and see if that works or not. My last hope is that its a duff board.

HELP! :o

Right you know the OCWB1.BIN File...
I have burnt to cd (fooled as a floppy) so it loads up when restart pc as a floppy..

Do I have to put AFTER the A:\ASRFLASH OCWB1
Then click enter .... as this is a .bin file (ocwb1.bin)

Or

A:\ASRFLASH.exe OCWB1.BIN

Also, in Nero On current recorder is it : Image recorder or Dvd Dual
(My dvd rw).

Have you had a look through the FAQ on the OCworkbench forum? you might find something that might help.

Thanks, I think I have most of that 1st post memorised :o
Ive trawled through there but not much luck :(

Have installed my mates 6800GT and it works perfectly, the only difference is that it has the extra power connector. Is there any setting in the BIOS to sort this out???

I dont know which to RMA, the board or the GFX, as both work perfectly with other systems...........arghhh

looking at this mobo again
want to migrate to pci-e,not yet doe
not into overclocking and loooking for a mobo with as many pci32 slots as l can get
this has 3 pci32 slots
l have a amd x2 4400
2 questions
is there any difference with the agp slot speed and performance with dual sata 2
and whats the speed like with pci-e
is there any issues if im not overclocking
is it worth getting
l think you can upgrade bios in windows with dual sata
cheers

Can anyone tell me if its ok to use 1T command in the bios? I heard people were having some problems with it. Im using bios 1.60, and 2 gig of G.Skill CL 2-3-2-5.
