Hello all,

We're taking steps to improve our presence in the UK, and part of this is more direct interaction with you, our end-users, past, present and future. Therefore, we'd like to welcome you all to our very own thread discussing everything ASRock.

Here, you're welcome to ask any ASRock related questions, including technical support, pre-sales questions and giving feedback - we'll make sure any queries end up in the right hands and that you'll get a response ASAP.

We're running this thread from Taiwan, so there's a sizeable time difference. This means we're not able to respond instantly, but we'll be checking in daily at least. Also, we'll publish info on current events we're involved in, giveaways, and so forth in this thread.

Let the posting commence!

Hey any planned bios releases for the z170 extreame 4
There will definitely be updates within the next month or so, we'd dare to wager.

Batman guarding my mini fridge!
There we go. We may steal your picture to promote this thread on Facebook. :D

Any news on a z270 board :)
No. Yes. Maybe. It's classified. ;)

Hi and welcome, a great addition to the forum and about time!

Got a question for you but i have a feeling you cant answer :( looking forward to some Ln2/Kaby testing on the z170 MOCF, is the board able to realise the cpu's full potential as in memory tuning and max frequency?
Not after any facts or figures here just a simple yes or no will suffice.
Should be pretty much the same as the full Z170 OC Formula - so yes.

I'll always have a soft spot for ASROCK. My 939DualSATA2 was the best motherboard I ever owned. Took me from a Athlon 64 3000+ to an Athlon X2 4600+ with the AM2 upgrade board. Always utterly rock solid - until the CPU retention bracket cracked. I just replaced the bracket and it was fine. Most long term stable PC I've ever owned.
That's where it all started for me as well, the 939Dual-SATA2. I remember doing some voltage mods to it as well, for higher VCore. :)

Some of you might've seen, or even participated in our last contest hosted by OCUK on Facebook - you know, then one where we gave away a Z170 Extreme4. The winner was Felix Zielinski.

Now, word just reached me that Felix isn't gonna get a Z170, but instead a future Extreme4, delaying delivery until after new year (sorry Felix - we'll make it up to you!) We'll also be doing a contest around New Year for further chances to score some new and upcoming motherboards - keep an eye out on our Facebook page.

Lastly - Merry Christmas to you all! In case you run in to some ASRock related trouble around the holiday season, we'll be here to help, but our responses may be a bit slower than normal. Thanks for your support in 2016!

Happy Christmas from NZ!

A quick question... I've got my Asrock Rack E3c224 motherboard paired with a xeon E3-1231v3 and 8GB DDR3 ECC and it works! The issue is that now I've installed Windows 10 Pro, it will not go to sleep. There are no options within the power settings of Windows 10 and all low power states are enabled in the bios. Does this motherboard support sleep mode? I would have thought so, but I'm a wee bit stumped!

We're checking with the Rack guys - I fear they might be off for Christmas, so any answer might be delayed until after New Year's.

Video not working for me? :(

Quick question, i used to have an Asrock Extreme 4 Gen3 i think it was with my old Intel 2500k CPU, it was a fantastic board and i never had any issues with it, wouldnt hesitate to buy your products again in a heartbeat.

Are you guys going to be offering boards for the AMD RyZen series of Chips? AM4 socket i think? Do you have anything you can tease us with in this area? :) Im sure the new AMD chips will be big sellers, so what better way to promote your products than to get in early with some teasers ;)
Believe us, there will be teasers as soon as we have something to tease you with. Shouldn't be too far off, although we obviously can't comment on future products.

It's good to see threads like this, it will actually make me consider another make of board. Customer service is always important to me tbh, UK RMA is always good as well, although that would be handled by OCUK if bought from here anyway.
Cheers!

Hopefully they have some really good AM4 boards for Zen, will definitely be interested in something high end for Zen.
We'll let you know as soon as we can. It'd be odd if there wasn't a full lineup of AM4 boards. :)

Thanks! I appreciated your reply in my other thread, ordered the QVL memory and it started up like a charm!

I'd be interested to know if sleep works as this is a brand new install of Windows 10 Pro but I only have display shut off in the power options, no sleep settings at all.

No worries about the reply time, its Christmas after all and everyone deserves to get boozed!

Edit:

Thought I'd better add the full system for reference:

Intel Xeon E3-1231v3 with default boxed cooler
Asrock Rack E3C224 motherboard
Kingston KVR16E11/8 8GB DDR3 ECC Ram
nVidia GTX 1070 GPU
Intel 120GB SSD on Port 1
Windows 10 Pro

In the bios I have the onboard GPU enabled and set as primary with the nvidia set as secondary. This was so that I can still get the remote access to bios and boot as the machine will be remotely located with limited phyiscal access. Within Windows 10, to ensure that I get the nVidia GPU working for gaming, the aspeed gpu is disabled (tried to keep it enabled but the headless dongle on the GPU was not working correctly and Windows wouldn't keep the nVidia GPU as primary).

Apart from the GPU position, everything else is a stock install of windows 10 pro.

Edit 2: Also, there is no sleep option on the start menu which my previous vPro setup had...

The reply I got from our Rack specialists:
"S3 sleep states are more on the desktop boards."

From the manual: Deep Sleep Mobile platforms support Deep S4/S5 in DC only and desktop platforms support Deep S4/S5 in AC only. The default value is [Disabled].

Therefore, S3 is NOT supported, only S4/S5.

@AsrockMB

I've found the page you referenced in the E3C224 manual re Deep Sleep, yet this setting doesn't exist in my bios under chipset, see image.

This is down at the bottom of the page and next down arrow will loop to the top. Is there supposed to be this option available? If not, why is it in the manual?

Bios and BMC firmware are at latest that exists on the product page.

I've also got an NTP error that will not allow me to select GMT+13 for the time settings, which is unfortunate as New Zealand is currently 13 hours ahead of GMT!

Let us once more check with the Rack guys.

As for the last part - note that it says first UTC and then GMT in the list, the list too should say UTC, not GMT. New Zealand is UTC +12. :)

Heh I didn't even see the proceeding UTC, saw the GMT and left it at that!
Also - the Rack guys have indeed taken out the Deep Sleep options in newer BIOS versions as it caused some issues.

So AMD have officially announced ASRock as Partners for Zen AM4 Motherboards, they even announced ASRock will be doing the X370 Taichi model, do you guys have any other X370 models planned? quite like those Z270 series you have above, any chance of those in X370?
There will be more, but we can't tell you exactly what currently.

So there is no way to enable automatic hibernation on this motherboard? Disappointing as I used the manual and website to determine some of the features I needed, also there is nothing in the bios download section to say that deep sleep is no longer supported.

Basically, yes - sorry about that. You can always revert to an older BIOS version and see if it works for you.

Hmmm I was hoping for more to be honest, a competitor supports deep sleep (and S3) plus HMTL5 for the iKVM but choose the E3C224, I think I might have made the wrong choice.

As none of the bios downloads have a change log, can you find out which BIOS still supports deep sleep? I'd still prefer to have access to broadwell cpus as well as an upgrade path.

I'd rather not have to fork out more money for another motherboard as nothing is cheap here in New Zealand and I'd lose out on the cost of this one too.

Of course - we're checking which version is the latest to support deep sleep and get back to you once we have an answer.

1.40 is the latest version with deep sleep capabilities.

Any info on the Supercarrier board?

Some of the features are outlined here: http://www.asrock.com/microsite/Intel200/

A full product page for the Supercarrier will pop up in the future.

@ AsrockMB........ It looks like I'm upgrading to Kabylake and I'm in the market for a suitable mobo. Now, I don't need insane overclocking options, maybe up to 4.2-4.4 (virtually the boost speed of some of these cpus) and I don't even know what most of these new mobo options are, let alone use them, so I'm looking at a basic mobo that'll allow for a bit of o/clocking (even auto overclocking would be nice), usb 3, easy to use uefi, etc. I'm basically a pc ludite, so if its easier to use/set up, I'm in.
I used to use a lot of ASrock boards years ago for AMD builds and I found 'em super reliable, cheap and easy to setup so I'm assuming nothings changed so I fancy giving them a go instead of the gigabyte option that I'd usually go for. Heres a couple that caught my eye

Z270 Pro4 Intel Z270 (Socket 1151) DDR4 ATX Motherboard

Z270M Pro4 Intel Z270 (Socket 1151) DDR4 Micro ATX Motherboard

Any opinions appreciated.
The Pro4's are basically sitting at the lower end of our high-end stuff. Perfect if you're just on the market for an all-round board. The Z270M is Micro-ATX whereas the non-M is ATX - if you're building from scratch and want something slightly smaller, we recommend the M, if you're gonna fit it in a full-size case, the Z270 Pro4 makes more sense for future upgradability.

Thanks, so downgrading to this bios will obviously kill the upgrade path to Broadwell in the future, I also note that on the latest bios release it has this improvement:

1.Improve PCIe card compatibility

What does that mean? I run this motherboard with a GTX1070 and would prefer not to run into trouble; again no change log or expanded description to understand what this means!
The PCI-E fixes made have been mostly for AMD graphics cards and peripheral cards. No real reports about NVIDIA cards not working as intended.

Whew.. Finally found the perfect motherboard for my passive cooled HTPC setup.

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/asro...1151-ddr4-mini-itx-motherboard-mb-14j-ak.html

The info on overclockers.co.uk does not match the info on Asrocks site, though. According to Asrock the motherboard has thunderbolt 3, displayport 1.2 and HDMI 2.0. So it natively supports 4k@60hz over HDMI as the only mini-ITX board I've seen yet.

Any idea when this board may be available?
It does indeed come with Thunderbolt 3 and DP 1.2, and it indeed says 4k @ 60Hz on the specs on our product page, but nowhere does it actually mention HDMI 2.0 - we're double-checking to make sure. Same thing with availability, we'll get back to you as soon as we have word on it.
