I'm back and now running a full AM4 Ryzen Platform
The whole "swapping process from Intel" was not as hard as I feared but I have to say the Taichi does feel a bit rough around the edges from a BIOS/glitch perspective.
I have upgraded the board to the latest 1.60 version without any problems using the USB UEFI flash option (it came with version 1.50 installed).
On both versions I was able to run my RAM (G.Skill Trident Z F4-3200C15D-16GTZ) at 3200Mhz just by selecting the XMP option in the bios, very happy from that perspective.
Now regarding the Taichi/BIOS here are the things/glitches I've noticed:
* board take an extremely long time to initialize. Not talking about boot time to Windows here but how long it takes for the board to come up upon powering on for example. Looking at the diagnostic LED codes it seems to go through an awful lot of checks/sequences before reaching POST.
* I have set some custom fan profiles in the BIOS but sometimes upon boot or reset they don't stick or just seem to go back to default (I can spot the difference immediately as I run a silent setup and when the fans go back to default it's more noisy)
* I could not get my Asus Essence STX II sound card to work reliably when plugged in the bottom PCI-E 1x slot. Sometimes it would fail to "recognize" the card and I would boot into Windows with device not detected. Solved the problem by putting the card in the PCI-E 16x slot below.
* Wi-Fi module stays enabled (detected and showing up in Windows) even though I've disabled it in the BIOS.
* Provided documentation for the BIOS is really poor. There is a ton of options but there's no way of knowing what they're for (and I'm not just talking about OC related stuff)
Satisifed overall but you can clearly see and feel it's early days for AMD and their Ryzen Platform, hoping everything will get better with time.
