Does anyone here use intel rapid storage technology?
If thats the case im going to revert back to 1701 and not fix what's not broken, 1901 has the same issue i think
guys help me with sum advice
just installed this mobo, all is fine, when i started up the windows update downloaded sum drivers not sure what,
but looking at the software there is so much so confused:
do i need the
intel lan driver? (im on ethernet connection now)
do i need intel chipset driver? (not sure if i have it but pc seems to be running fine)
also how to tell what version of bios im on? do i really need to update the bios?
yes and no will be suffice
I always load the following drivers:
Chipset (chipset)
MEI (chipset)
Intel LAN (lan)
IRST (sata)
Bluetooth
You may need Audio when not using a soundcard and Asmedia SATA if using that controller.
Latest drivers:

To find bios version from windows run "Command Prompt" then enter "SYSTEMINFO" then click "Enter". It will be in the list.
You can always go into the bios to find the version by pressing the Delete key when the pc starts to boot.
If you are below bios 1701 then I would update.
EDIT:
Did you guys know that if you USE A 5820K on a Asus Rampage Extreme, THEN the last lane identified as PCIEx8_4 which is the last lane in the bottom, is DISABLED ? yes sir, that is why I have been scratching my balls for the last 2 hours until 3am to discover why my shizz was not working on that lane.
Return the board or get a 5930K
It's stated a number of times in the manual.
Personally, I'd upgrade the CPU as that will give you more PCI lanes on any motherboard - it's a great board.
This - way to go me thinks. Great board as long as you get a good one.
Stick teh 1x Sound card in the small PCI X1 slot. This is lanes from chipset so CPU does not matter.
anyone running modded bios ? I'm running the 1902 modded. Seems good so far, just getting my cpu over clock stable then will start on memory.
I have found no benefit from teh last 3 Bios 17xx is fine for all what I am doing. Not sure what they mean when they say system stability.
Is your system stable?? Yes!! Well dont update then!!
Pointless descriptioin if it says improved stability with 3200+ Samsung IC mems for example much better!!!
Had a look at the modded bios - did not try it as it sounded as if it was going to be so so. Let me know what improvements you notice or not as the case may be, and how you get on with it. Let you be the guinea pig lol.

Booting to windows at 4.6ghz 1.28v, ive upped it to 1.285v just to give it a few extra mv as I always do that even when I think its stable.
OCCT is failing after 50 mins so thats not the best, but then Ive tested a dozen or so games including metro 2033 as that I find is the most stressfull test of all 6 cores of my 5930k - I was expecting a bsod, crash, lock up, anything but I got nothing so I'm unsure why OCCT is flaking out but im not going to worry too much.
