The Asus ROG SWIFT PG278Q – a 27” 1400p 144Hz Monitor with G-SYNC

According to this: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2014-nvidia-g-sync-review the sweet spot for G-Sync is anything above 45-50fps. I was hoping this would help with Arma where the framerate often dips as low as 30fps even on high specced machines but that review isnt very positive

It's perfect for the higher end 120hz users like me who get drops down to 70fps.

Would be good if Asus would release a firm release date for this ASAP. Hopefully Gibo works his magic regarding pre orders.

£600 is far too much.

Still its a step in the right direction .

Its this monitor, a 21:9 or the eizo VA panel monitor.

All very different to each other of course.

The EIZO's seem to be hit and miss whether you'll get a good one or a terrible one. Think they're built at 2 different factories.

Btw April hurry up you fool.

Not in Arma 3 multiplayer where the framerate is usually limited by the server but that's my particular use case and Arma 3 servers are getting more optimised. I'm still waiting for some more substantial reviews.

Speaking of drops to 70fps, do you experience tearing when that happens? I've been holding out for ages for a decent upgrade so I have no experience of 120Hz

All I can say is finally a TN panel @ 2560x1440!

I used IPS monitors at work and while they do have better colours, it's not ideal for gaming. I'm a long time CRT user and as such ultra sensitive to ghosting/smears.

I'm 70% certain my current (Samsung P2450H) TN Panel is 8 bit as the colours look significantly better than any other TN panel I've seen. I'll be happy if it just matches it either way.

I hope there are enough available on release. :)

Does anyone know if this will do 1440p at 144hz? It's not a massive difference but it seems like a little bit of a downgrade hz wise from the current crop of high refresh rate monitors.

Also, any word on when this will likely be available here?

I was going to nab a BenQ Z series when it was released but due to the firmware bug I think I'll wait for this if it's only a couple of months away.

Yep its been confirmed as 144hz and 3D vision capable. Release date should be around April.

All I know is that it's terrible and really detracts from the overall experience. I have BF4 configured to 120fps using the in-game limiter with V-Sync off to minimise input lag. I do have it setup so that it rarely drops, but the issue is whenever it does is typically when you need solid FPS the most!!

Very interested in this. Been using my old Dell 24" for about... oo 7/8 years?! Served me well!
Thing is would I be better off getting a second gtx780 and some other cheaper monitor or one of these??

Fingers crossed ocuk can source them for non silly prices and maybe i'd get both!

Think part of the point of gsync is that it mitigates framedrops. So you may not need another 780.

I hope my 680's (2GB) will have enough grunt to drive this monitor.

I think i'm going to get it near launch after a few reviews come back.

You'll be fine in all but top tier titles that actually use over 2GB vram.

Considering upgrade to a 770 myself. 3GB should be a good match for the GPU power available at 1440P

Is it VESA mountable?

Edit: "VESA wall mountable (100 × 100mm)"

Yup, sold :D

Might have to keep this second 780Ti and waterblock it :x

Since it's only a single DisplayPort input, how would you go about creating a multi-monitor setup with these? Does a single DisplayPort output have enough bandwidth to allow chaining more than one of these, and there's no output so you'd need to use a separate piece of hardware to chain?
