The Asus ROG SWIFT PG278Q – a 27” 1400p 144Hz Monitor with G-SYNC

After watching this review, I think I will finally buy one. After disappointment with Acer 144hz IPS, Rog Swift is the only option for me now. If the failure rate on current Swifts is within 1%, I can give it a chance. However one issue remains, as seen on the official geforce forum:
https://forums.geforce.com/default/...ion-with-asus-rog-swift-and-sli-eta-for-fix-/
If possible, I play in 3d. I am on single 980 gtx right now. Adding another one for 3d on Swift is futile it seems. In the same time I have Titan X ordered as soon as they are in stock. Do you guys think that single Titan X have enough grunt to drive 3d @1440p in most cases?

Check out one of my other reviews for the Titan X and the Swift :)

Just bought mine today after returning the acer xb270hu due the the excessive ips glow. I hope this is better :)

I know Asus monitors are generally better quality, so i'm confident.

Well.... you would say that ;) :p

If I didn't think it was true, I wouldn't say it... I have no incentive to lie - though I appreciate some people might not believe that!

I've been pushing for some actual statistics for a while so I'm just glad I was able to share them.

I second you on that.. just done the same thing so I hope im not disappointed.

Such a shame though as I love IPS

Well I've read that eventhough it's a TN panel, it is the best one out there and once calibrated it has very good colours.

Yes IPS is great but you have to deal with ips glow which is what the acer had.

Congrats on your purchase :)

I have to say, modern, quality TN panels are nothing like they used to be.

Right now, for day-to-day use, I'm using a 4K TN flanked by two Dell 1080p IPS screens and I don't ever think about it only being a TN. Thankfully I don't do colour critical work, but for gaming and general usage they're really not as bad as some people make out in my opinion.

I like to call them "IPS Snobs", I work on a daily basis on an Asus PB278Q, I come home to my Swift and I cannot tell the difference, Maybe because they aren't side by side but to my eyes the difference is mute.

Well according to the DPD tracker my replacement monitor is 1 hour away, Faulty one on standby :D

The Acer thread scared me away from this monitor. So my ROG SWIFT coming tomorrow:-)

Please do let us know how you get on with this, I have an older Asus 1080p 144Hz gaming monitor just before G-sync came out :( and the build quality and screen is very good I've never had a 1440p screen and playing GTA-V is really getting me more fired up for the 1440p screen now :D

Well the replacement came and it's even worse than the previous monitor, Who ever checks these at the factory must be clinically blind.

Seriously this is bloody ridiculous.

The screen is flashing slightly, There's pixel inversion and it goes into a colour test mode when in standby.

Time for yet another RMA.

*EDIT*

To top it off it has 3 dead pixels and flashes bright green when going through a loading screen, What a complete joke.

What the monitor this thread is based on? OMG whats going on with this tech? TV's have a much better time NOT PERFECT but less faults.

So what now to look out for? maybe wait till new season of monitors, when is that?

Just stay away from this monitor, Nothing but problems since the day I got it with probably another 2 or 3 RMA's before I get one that works like it should.

What a shame :( it should not be this bad! the days when things where over engineered are well over.
Such a fine line between being engineered that it works as intended but cost efficient to build so all is happy but we are at a point where the manufacture can just build to the bare minimum yet charge the earth.

Maybe there is a cause to bring back manufacturing to the UK and have much better quality control yes cost higher but at least you then buy with confidence.

Nearly everything is built for peanuts in Asia to maximise profit which really shows in products today especially this monitor.

As I said over at the other place Dicehunter, please keep me posted on the new replacement. Any issues, and I'll make sure we step in to get it sorted for you.
