The Asus ROG SWIFT PG278Q – a 27” 1400p 144Hz Monitor with G-SYNC

If it's any more than £550 I'll probably give it a miss, I paid just over £300 for my Dell U2713HM, I won't pay near enough double (or more perhaps) for a TN panel of the same resolution; sure the 144Hz and G-Sync are brilliant features but not >£550 worth in my opinion. We'll see I guess...

Had I not been looking at getting a Surface Pro 3 around the same time, then my opinion may have been different ;)

Its the 2560x1440, 144hz, 1ms response times that your paying the money for. Its the first of it's kind (I don't count the overclocked korean monitors).

they say available in july but i dont expect it till late august if not sept

I think that's being optimistic.

If it was ready or in production, they'd have had a bunch of final units being demoed to the press to demonstrate how supposedly super-awesome G-Synch and it are ... and they definitely would have announced final pricing and availibility, not just re-released an unmodified press release from earlier in the year.

The lack of noise says everything.

Certainly would prefer the asus over the AOC anyday.

Asus would be a huge visual bonus, but I'm mostly after the gaming features such as G-Sync and 144hz (amongst other things). The difference between the two isn't really game breaking, they're both TN panels (even though the Asus is 8bit), unless the colours are really that different between 6bit and 8bit. Asus obviously has a higher resolution, so you may get better FOV.

Still, at £600+ compared to the AOC £360 price tag. Its not as cost efficient imo... the deal breaker will be how much longer the wait is. AOC available late June, ROG available July (god knows what available might mean).

Let's just hope they stick to their estimate this time for July. (though I understand Nvidia is the reason behind the delay)

AFAIK they weren't even demoing it at computex .. which would seem odd for a product that has less than 7 weeks to be 'ready'.

Very odd, but as far as I'm aware computex is about the latest and greatest and this monitor is rather odd from that perspective. They show off a 4K G-Sync monitor which looked rather nice.

Almost all games currently use HOR+ so the FOV is influenced purely by aspect ratio and will be identical on both monitors.

So the only difference (purely gaming wise) is better colours. I wonder if I can justify that for an extra £300 and an extra month's wait. Since if I wanted better visuals I'd go all out and get an IPS 4k monitor instead... I hate my brains logic since I really want this monitor but everything is pointing at AOC at this point.

Cmon Asus I don't want to make a bad decision by rushing things, release the god damn thing in July. (fingers crossed)

That AMD were showing demos of their Adaptive Synch implementation on a firmware (not hardware) upgraded Korean IPS monitor, and ASUS / NVIDIA weren't demoing G-Synch on their flagship product - one which is supposedly weeks from shipping - is something that much could be read into.

Either it's nowhere near ready or they have very little confidence in it.

Nvidia is making "tweaks" apparently, god knows what that means. But it isn't Asus's fault since ALL Gsync monitors were delayed. So the good news is the monitor itself is ready, just waiting on Nvidia. If the AOC G Sync monitor releases this month then by logic that means Nvidia is ready and would mean the Rog swift will follow in July. I hope. it's definitely peculiar though...

I can't see why it wouldn't be available in July although the lack of live demos is a bit worrying!

Guys! They were demoing it at Computex!! No idea where you got your info from :S

Thanks. Simply put, there hadn't been any mention of anything besides the press release, pretty much anywhere.

Interesting they chose to use Watch Dogs for a 'smooth' gaming experience .. can't imagine that G-Synch can really improve upon the driving slideshow that it is.

Edit: I suppose it's because of their ridiculous GameWorks program.
