The Asus ROG SWIFT PG278Q – a 27” 1400p 144Hz Monitor with G-SYNC

AWESOME!!

Best news ever, what a nice way to wake up to the morning coffe and stright away over here and see this great news :)

I just did go straight away to the conclusion and can now with ease of mind read the rest. It's the perfect monitor just what I haven been dreaming of so thanks a million, I am set this will be on my desk very soon :D

Awesome monitor, it's a shame they didn't say what set up they were using in the review. As I only have a single GTX780 I would liked to have known if this would be OK?

skimmed through the review and it really got me quite excited about the screen. in your personal opinion baddass, how do the display colors fare against IPS/PLS? disregarding viewing angles, etc.

the problem i had with TN panels (as i described it numerous times) was that the colors were really bad, even when viewing head-on, i.e. the blues were purple-ish, etc.

this could not be alleviated through the OSD in any way unfortunately. so my question is....is this "new" TN better in that regard?

Psst Baddass, "and it's good to see Eizo have opted to stick with the high res panel here"..

oops, sorry, meant to change that to Asus!

it is mentioned. we used an AMD 7800 to test compatibility with AMD cards, hence the section about graphics card considerations. Then for main testing we used an NVIDIA GTX 780. suppose it all depends on what settings you want to run at, but the card will support G-sync / ULMB and 2560 x 1440 @144Hz :)

Compared with other TN Film panels the default setup is very very good. so you do avoid some of the washed out, high gamma, weird colour look of a lot of TN Film panels where no real factory calibration has been done. so from that point of view the picture looks good. you will still see contrast and gamma shifts as you change your line of sight, and viewing angles are no different to other TN Film screens really. but overall the image quality when viewed head on was very good

OK cheers I did skim through the review so must have missed that but if only a single GTX780 was used and gave reasonable results, this is very encouraging.

dual monitor 1080p 60hz + 1440p 144hz question

Hello,

I already have an old 1080p 60hz monitor connecting over HDMI, can I run both monitors if I were to also get a 1440p 144hz monitor both running from one Nvidia 780 or 780ti card?

So running the ROG Swift over DP 1.2 at 1440p 144hz and my 24" samsung 1080p over HDMI at 60hz from one card?

Thanks for the advice and clarification. Also donated €5 for the review - thought it was excellent and very detailed!

not entirely sure i'm afraid, not sure whether you could set different refresh rates for the two, that would probably be the tricky part. would probably cause issues with using G-sync/ULMB as well on the Asus, since the other screen wouldn't be compatible with it (thats assuming you have a GTX 780 card?)

I read the review word for word - good work Baddass. I also made a small donation as you have clearly put a huge amount of work into this.

cheers, really appreciated. as we said in the review, we decided against doing an advanced paid for preview since everyone was so so keen to read it, but donations really help say "thanks" and support the work we do on the site :)
