The Asus ROG SWIFT PG278Q – a 27” 1400p 144Hz Monitor with G-SYNC

My settings fully calibrated are:

Colour Temp: User Mode
Red: 95
Green: 95
Blue: 100
Brightness: 24
Contrast: 50

That gives me a white point of 6505k with a brightness of 120cd/m2 which is what I like best. Any brighter and I find it way to harsh. I'm coming from a 1440p IPS and the colours while not as deep/rich are still very good in my opinion. Much much better then my old benq 11t which was horrible.

i had the same settings too except my brightness was 25

i further changed some settings in the NV control panel and ive finally got the blue of the OcUK forum looking great

AarI13Q.png

ive been here so long that i always use the forum blue to calibrate all the different displays ive had

and of course Lagom

still kind of disappointed with the OSD options tho my BenQ had more choices i wish i didnt have to further tweak using the NV control panel

Nice, I've never really played around with them settings before.

Another thing that everyone should do is to go into nvidia control panel -> adjust video colour settings -> advanced and change dynamic range to full. Makes colours in videos so much deeper and richer, you can really see the difference if you change the setting back and forth with a paused video open in the background. I don't know why this isn't set as default as it makes such a huge difference.

Oh I was sure OCUK showed stock when I preordered last monday (OC1842516) but my order still shows as 'in warehouse queue'. I was kinda expecting delivery tomorrow.

Does this mean I have to wait until 15/08? :|

Yes, the exact same thing happened to me although I used paypal so had no way of tracking my order, when I contacted support last week they said I should have expected to get it on the 28th(yesterday) when I didn't receive a dispatch email I contacted them again and got told Ive missed the first batch and need to wait until the next batch which arrives on the 15th but will be delivered on the following monday(the 18th) unless we can hopefully get Saturday delivery. I payed the old higher price and I did manage to get a refund of the difference to the new price. Going to be a long 3 weeks :/

Aye, saw it was in stock. Jumped in expecting to get it sooner and now have to wait while watching the price fall :/

Make sure you're not using Gsync when you try and enable ULMB as they don't work together

It worked perfect once I uninstalled the drivers so I have tested it, thanks for the sugestion mate :)

I have to say that the ULMB mode dident impress me and of course I tested it with games I could put out those 85 - 100 - 120 fps (hz), but the small difference in motion clarity dident do anything for my (OD on Normal is perfectly fast).
And thats what I was hoping, that the screen is so fast without it in g-sync mode so I am so very happy with this monitor, it's crazy and one of the best thing I could have get my lovely Pc :D

Asus + nVidia with g-sync did make the perfect gaming monitor, no doubt about it :D

Loving my swift as well. This monitor is so amazingly cool. This is the sweet spot of all monitors.

How does this monitor cope with a single GTX780 do you get good frame rates at 2k playing games such as Bf4

If you're willing to use 2x MSAA and drop some settings down from Ultra you'll be able to get 3-figure frame rates in many situations.

By the way there is no such thing as '2k' when it comes to monitor resolutions. It's called WQHD, QHD, 2560 x 1440 or sometimes semi-incorrectly '1440p'. 1920 x 1080 is closer to '2k' as it happens.

Afaik this was done to minimise input lag.

I have said that a few times for many monitors with single input like the fastest Korean imports that do 120HZ but the residential expert PCM2 claims that does not do so so is not true.

Can we have a decisive yes or now to the fact that multiple inputs adds lag as I read a long time ago?

I did read they are all joined internally by some multiplier/scaler (not talking RES scaling) and 1 monitor got round it by having 1 single input split apart from the others (that is all I can remember sorry).

Also was told by PCM2 that the scaler is for upscaling the RES, but I know that is what a scaler does for SD to HD on monitors and TV's but I am sure its not the same type of scaler and this was to do with inputs.

that and also on this model because only DisplayPort can handle the bandwidth requirement of 2560 x 1440 @ 144Hz and with G-sync support. also i'm sure there's some limitation when adding a G-sync module to a screen currently which limits you having a scaler or other inputs

on the Korean models, the more pressing limitation of most (all?) of the multi-input screens is that overclocking the refresh rate doesn't work, or rather if you do, it just drops frames. the single input monitors have been the best for overclocking as i understand it

using a scaler or having multi-inputs doesn't have to add more lag, but it does often make life more complicated for the manufacturers. think of it this way, the more electronics and things you put between the input and the panel, the more likely you are to have some inherent lag to try and contend with :)

And to you guys thats talking about putting that PS4 to this monitor, maan are you insane, this is a Pc Gaming monitor and not some pesky console should ever come close to it... LOL!
Joking aside, I dont need any more ports for it as this is just for Pc gaming perfection as Pc just frigging rules :D

Annyway, when if I will get me a PS4 I will definetly use my 50 Plasma Tv for it, right now I have an WiiU and a PS3, both collectiing dust tho!
So for lowres console gaming a Tv will do fine ;)

You don't need to use it for consoles. How about connecting a mac or laptop for example?! Yes it is a gaming monitor but that doesn't mean you can't use it for other purposes!
