Fifa World XI: Casillas, Alves, Marcelo, Pique, Ramos, Iniesta, Alonso, Xavi, Ronaldo, Messi, Falcao

All from La Liga...

, what about y'know the English Premier League being the best league in the world, blah blah blah.

Messi, it was always going to be Messi. Four times in a row in amazing, as is that FIFA 'World' XI.

I don't really follow the European leagues well enough to say for sure what the World XI defence should be but I find it very hard to believe those are the best four defenders in the world at the moment. :o And Casillas in goal is a joke as well. :o

Well Casillas captained Real to a La Liga title as well Spain winning the Euro's, and he still is a world class keeper, presumably that's why Ramos and Alonso are in there. Pique for Spain. Marcelo though and Alves wut?

Surprised no Juve players, went unbeaten in their league ffs!

I would disagree.

I think that is a very, very good back four. Obviously I think people would have preferences on a personal level and I'd love to see Lahm in there but that is me nit picking.

That's a good shout, but I'd have thought Chiellini would be in with a shout of the back four actually and Pirlo in the midfield but in reality Pirlo was up against Xavi / Iniesta / Busquets / Alonso in the midfield.

Pique was abysmal in the early part of the year (when he could get a game), hardly the hallmark of a World XI player. :o

Marcelo and Alves, agreed. Ramos and Alonso are both dire.

Cole must surely deserve the LB spot. Lahm for RB? Seems mad that the two teams that got to the CL final have no representatives.

Lahm
Chiellini

Cole
Pirlo
Xavi
Iniesta
Ronaldo
Messi
Falcao

Looks better already.

I wouldn't have Cole personally, until **** got real for Chelsea in the Champions League (when admittedly he put in some epic performances) he was rubbish last season.

Whilst I dont think he was as good last season as he was in 10/11 Kompany surely deserves to be in there ahead of Pique/Ramos?

Harsh on no mention for RVP either but I guess Falcao did fire Atlético to the Wafa Cup

I'd keep Alves at RB, bring in either Alba or Lahm at left back, I like Cole, I do, but I think he's not as good as the three that have already been mentioned, I don't think there is much in it though, him and Evra have both had dips in form.

Alonso, is brilliant, but Real Madrid have just been a bit terrible so far this season, I'd put Busquets in over him personally, that mans ability to read and 'see' the game is incredible, he's very underrated imho, let alone his actual ability on the ball, such a calming influence at times.

Pique is a brilliant defender, he struggled for fitness and form but he's still had an incredible year and his form is improving and getting back to his World Class standard. Ramos is a fantastic defender, he's always getting better and given how good he already is that's fantastic. He's positioning and reading of the game has gotten much better and added to that that him and Pique don't look 'too' out of place going forward either.

Kompany has enjoyed a really good year but I think Chiellini would have been for a shout too, I'd imagine they would both be on the bench :p

Zlatan has enjoyed a good year too, as has Robin Van Persie but I'm not sure they're that close to the three forwards that have been picked, which is just more credit to the three that were picked to be honest.

While I can see how Messi won, based on influence in the season between the two Ronaldo should have got it, he lead Madrid to the title.

As for the World XI, a complete joke. While I'm in no way a Chelsea fan, how can the European Champions get zero representation yet Barcelona win the Copa del Ray and get five players, Real Madrid La Liga and also get five. The quality of opposition in La Liga outside of the top two was non existent last season.

The award lost all it's credibility when Sneijder didn't win in 2010

COPPA ITALIA, SERIE A, CHAMPIONS LEAGUE, SECOND PLACE IN THE WC, BEST TOPSCORER IN WC, SUPER COPPA ITALIANA, AND WORLD CUP WITH INTER FC... MY DEAR MISTER WESLEY SNEIJDER, I'M SORRY BUT IT'S NOT ENOUGH FOR THE GOLDEN BALL.....

The award is for the best player of the year, not the best player in the most successful team. Messi was far better than Sneijder and deserving winner then and again this year.
