The Banter Thread

I'm not sure that you can't reconcile the two. The problem was that Liverpool's stance on Suarez got more press than their views on racism on the whole.

You're not taking racism extremely seriously when one of your players is found guilty of a racist offence by an independent panel and you continue to back him in public with no sign of contrition. Why can't you understand that? It undermines the whole process.

Also, I will die a little inside if Liverpool fans boo Terry if he is found guilty at his hearing too. :o

They're backing the player because they don't believe he made racist comments. That's not difficult to understand, surely? Anybody that's accused of racism shouldn't claim their innocence because it undermines racism :o

And I'd be surprised if the reception Terry receives at Anfield is any different than before. He regularly gets abused by our fans.

You can only claim your innocence up to the point where it emerges you are not innocent!

LOL :D

Come on, you can't seriously believe that? People that have been found guilty of something can't still maintain their innocence? Oh dear :o

Where there is reasonable doubt, of course. Where someone admits they said something and a panel of experts states it is impossible that it was intended in a friendly way, not so much. I give up. :o

You should give up because what you've claimed is simply not true. The experts claimed that if Suarez said what he admitted to saying, it wasn't offensive. You really shouldn't be commenting on things you clearly don't understand.

I believe he was guilty but everybody, especially him, has the right to claim his innocence.

Are you sure you read the right report? The right one is the one which says Suarez's version of events was "simply incredible". :o

Stop trying to change your argument because what you first claimed was BS :)

I said I don't believe his version of events but the experts did not say that what he admitted to saying was offensive, as you said. The panel disbelieved his version of events. Stop digging.

I'm at work and unfortunately I don't carry around the Suarez report like the majority of Liverpool fans seem to. I don't see what's wrong with my argument either, Suarez admitted saying 'negro' which is what it all hinged on. I certainly wasn't trying to mislead anyone and don't think I did. I'm frankly annoyed at myself for getting dragged into this over and over.

Anyway, I must fully admit that the media have contributed hugely to this though in the name of entertainment which is reprehensible in itself and something I'm sure we can both agree on - a nice way to end I thought. :D

Well the simple admission of using the word negro doesn't equal racial abuse, that's what's wrong with your argument.

As I've said many many times, I believe he was guilty of racially abusing Evra however I don't have any issue with him (or anybody else in similar circumstances) claiming his innocence. It would be a terrible world if we couldn't claim our innocence simply because we've been found guilty of something.

And I wish this was the end of it, but it won't be. Not until the league game at OT at the very earliest.

It's all good having a discussion on here but this is just getting boring going over the same thing over, and over, and over, and over again.

Can we just move on for the love of sweet jesus? :(

Indeed...its bloody boring now...Suarez has been punished for his racist/non racist comment...time to bury it.
