I'd imagine we've all watched other keepers (not to mention all the other keepers that United have had) so I still think we're fairly qualified to comment.

If I was making a metric, I'd call assists where they passed to someone who scored a goal. But I call it a "chance created" if they initiated an attack which resulted in a chance - so hoofing it to someone on the wing, who then put in a cross to a striker... or hoofing it to someone, then them flicking it onto someone who has a shot.

I totally agree, far too many times there's a third of forth person that really creates the attacking move but ultimately doesn't get the stat credit because they weren't the one that played the final pass, perfect example of this would be the game v Chelsea last season - 30/40 yard pass from Carrick, **** poor defending from Bosingwa allows Giggs to just waltz past him before he lays it on to Rooney to score. Rooney gets the goal, Giggs gets the assist, Carrick gets nothing but haters saying he only plays square passes :o

Back to De Gea though if we use the above as creating a chance then De Gea created a goal against Spurs earlier in the season, cross comes in De Gea catches it quickly picks Young out with a great throw, Young sprints down the touch line, little pass to Rooney who quickly moves it on to Anderson who does a one two with Welbeck and Anderson scores. All created by De Gea's distribution

Just on Wiki doing some random searches like I sometimes do when I watch football and I was on Tony Pulis' page, noticed he had played for a team in Hong Kong called Happy Valley AA. So I clicked on there team and noticed in there line up is Emile Ivanhoe Heskey. lol how those Happy Valley fans dream big when they edit Wikipedia.

See Arsenal have announced a healthy profit (as you'd expect given how much they got for Fabregas and Nasri!!) although still largely due to player sales vs the club's business model which seems to be roughly breaking even - they definitely need to do better commercially though when it comes time to renegotiate things like the stadium naming rights and sponsorship, which IIRC are up for negotiation around 2015 which incidentally is when the club aims to be debt-free which would be quite an achievement.

A very brief look at the number seems to be a circa 50mil profit with circa 50mil profits from player sales.

The only really sellable asset that would attract a similar fee this time around is RVP, so I think all things being even we could fail to break even next year even if we sold RVP... largely as I can see RVP wanting to leave and not attracting the kind of super fee that his current form might have demanded 2-3 years ago.

If we miss out on the CL and don't sell players we could quite easily slip into a loss next season as seemingly from the number of players we've lost vs number we've bought in on poor deals we are likely worse off wage wise compared to last year already, with a few new deals negotiated already and the predictable and likely Walcott bigger deal...........

Selling most of your best players and making a big profit while putting loading higher wages and getting worse can look good short term, long term it could be exactly the opposite.

People are seemingly reading a heck of a lot into a 5-2 win and forgetting an almost identical "thrashing" of Chelsea which was also somehow seen as a great win rather than a truly farsical performance from Chelsea.

Thanks. Not a frequent poster in here but been thinking about buying an England top for a while. That'll do nicely!
