Well, to be fair, that deal got them 80mil, wasn't exactly a bad deal was it.
But no, the money seems to have screwed Utd and gone to those who sold a duff player. Utd could simply have overpaid for an actually good player he represents if they really needed to pay him off for something. Getting a complete joke of a player for vastly too much off the recommendation of someone they should trust, still reeks of agent/Quieroz being in on a scam to sell Utd a turd and pocket the cash for themselves.
I think I could have negotiated that deal for Ronaldo.

If I'm not mistaken, Mendes played some part in De Gea's transfer too. Maybe Utd didn't want to pay Mendes directly themselves for his role in signing De Gea so they paid him via Vitória with the signing of Bebe.
I remember watching an agent being interviewed on SSN a year or so ago about agents roles in transfers and why clubs pay them so much and he as good as said that if a club isn't willing to pay what he asks for then his player either won't hear about the transfer or will be talked out of it.
I doubt we bought an unrelated player a year in advance of buying De Gea to secure his signature - and paying Mendes his fees as part of the De Gea transfer would have been a hell of a lot less suspicious (not that there is any need to cover them up) than paying them as part of the inflated transfer of a nobody.
The whole Bebe deal just strikes me as United being stitched up by third parties as DM suggests.
