Is it bad that I want a persistent, online battle over a much larger map (like the size of GTAV's map as a minimum but ideally much, much bigger) with hundreds of control points, hundreds of players, in the battlefield universe, a bit like Planetside? I'd even pay £5-£8 a month for something like that.
Join the server, fight across ever changing terrain, from cities to suburbs, shopping malls, schools, warehouses, derelict buildings, rolling fields, mountainous terrain and snowy mountains with a central server time that runs slightly faster than real time but mimics the seasons and has weather patterns that can vary across the map. Play for two or three hours and see it rain and then the sun comes out or if you play in December see Christmas trees and lights appear and have it snow at times giving making camo choice vital.
Have a few rivers for RHIB's, some port areas for the attack boats, airports/airfields for 'proper' aircraft that you need to keep control of, have the jets that need to fly for five to ten minutes to reach the front line, choppers closer to the action, perhaps VTOL aircraft like the F35 closer still, cut back on the auto repairs and auto reloads so teamwork is an absolute must and when you leave the server people keep fighting so when you come back the next day the front line is in a completely different place. Whichever side 'wins' gets a good reward, free game time or discounts on paid content or something, but definitely not P2W. It would require a LOT of balancing (as much as steaming down the Freeway in a column of twelve tanks and LAV's with Helicopter gun ships, Humvees and M142 MLRS in tow appeals to me), possibly even limiting vehicle spawns to areas close to the front line but I would play a game like that endlessly. Or for a long time certainly. DLC as new maps based on continents or distinct areas like NORAD in Colorado.
