The Battlefield 4 Thread 2015

Quite a steep learning curve in terms of mechanics but in terms of unlocks you can either buy a load or unless you are tragically bad it doesn't take many games to unlock enough attachments, etc. to be competitive against high level players aslong as you aren't lacking skill. The starter weapons are well rounded with forgiving bullet ballistics, etc.

yes but will it be enjoyable for someone like me starting at lvl 1 and loads of people probably very high level smashing my face into the ground?

You're not much worse off without the attachments as a lot of them benefit one thing and make another worse. For example all the foregrips making tap and burst firing worse, but reduce recoil or hip fire spread.

However you unlock stuff very quickly. You'll mostly be lacking in map knowledge but that comes with time. If you play with these people in a squad of 5 then you'll be able to just follow them around and shoot people.

Just rage quit some TDM because of claymore spam. Pathetic.

I do miss COD where you could run a perk to delay claymores slightly more than normal and the slight normal activation delay meant they could be avoided or atleast reduced to non fatal damage if you had good reactions/skill.

this game is now cheap and seem to be more and more hackers around, but hacking doesnt take objectives...so hackers can loose :D

I didn't even notice them on hanin while I was in a LAV. Soon as I ended up on foot at C though getting shot through the floor though.

There have been a few more cheaters around at the weekends recently sadly.

I'm going to have to revert to low4pro settings again. I was getting noticeable input lag and finding it difficult to see enemies with everything on ultra with uncapped frames. Sure the frames were high, but the experience wasn't as smooth as I'm used to.

mate there must be something you are not setting right, don't tell me you sunk 850 quid to run games on low.....that you can do on my 570 gtx :D

I didn't buy them for BF4

Having all the effects on is a disadvantage, I was getting much more rubbish floating about in FLIR making it harder to see anyone, and the lighting effects as a foot soldier make it much harder to see enemy soldiers in certain circumstances.

The input lag was because I wasn't capping frame rates.

Dude! you are only on foot when repairing LAV :D and who uses flir in 2016 what year is this ?:p

There is also input lag with certain settings in bf 3 and 4 especially the anti-aliasing setting.

I tell you one thing about bf 1, good luck spotting people as easily as what we do in bf 4 (even without thermals in bf 4)! :p

Tony and I both are finding it extremely hard to spot people, even with the all low4pro settings.

If you want some eye candy and good performance without much impact to being able to spot people, the only settings you should whack up are:

- texture quality
- texture filtering
- mesh quality
- terrain quality
- res scale (200% being about 4k)

AA might have been part of the issue too. I was coming round corners as infantry, pulling the trigger, and nothing would happen, no bullets came out. Then I was dead. Quite severe input lag.

Also noticed myself not being able to run forward a lot. I'd suddenly hit invisible walls, so something weird was going on there (unless my keyboard is knackered).

Might be worth playing with the RenderDevice.RenderAheadLimit setting - when I had my 470s I was getting some input lag and microstutter with the default setting - sticking it to 1 IIRC made everything nice at a small framerate penalty.

If you completely had framerate uncapped and rendering well above 200fps the engine can fall apart and all kinds of weird things happen.

Hmm i cap my fps to 200 on 144 moniter have 0 input lag.most settings on low.even prefer it this to g.sync and capping at 134 fps.did you turn G-sync off with uncapped framerates?

No I'd prefer to keep GSYNC on and have no input lag. It's probably the AA settings Nexus mentioned. The training ground seemed noticeably smoother with capped frame rate and low settings vs high frame rates.

Played on a noob only server earlier on conquest. It was just full of snipers and nobody wanted to advance. They would capture a few posts, set up camp and just sit there taking pot shots at each other. How can they enjoy the game!?

I usually find these people are taking their time with 20-40x scopes, sometimes even doping, etc. pretty easy picking with a less powered scope while they are trying to get sighted up on you or even unmagnified sights with any decent long range weapon heh.

I was taking a few out with the Scar-H SV and an acog. I also started using a lot of smokes which helped the few of us that wanted to advance get close to them making their scopes really useless. Got bored in the end and started hitting them with RPGs, I think campers deserve a rocket or two :D

You would like this this server then.
