The Battlefield 4 Thread 2015

£30 though, need a new FPS.

Might get 100 or so hours out of it. Value for money if it's any good.

Buy it try it for 24 hours after your 1st launch and if you don't like it then get a refund. It's the one thing Origin has over Steam.

Even if you play 30-60 hours it's less than a quid per hour of entertainment (or frustration :p)

I'm not even bothering to install it at the minute if there's no crossfire profile. Really narked that AMD can't even get a damn driver released on the day they say it will be after not having a new one in 3 months. So freaking lame it really is, they aren't doing anything to instil confidence at the moment, and at a time were Nvidia have been there for the taking after 970 ramgate and the Titan X being so massively overpriced for performance that's rather meh and memory that's going to be extinct in a few months. It's now the time that AMD needed to pounce, and what have they done, absolutely nothing.

Even if they did release the 3 series Tony I bet a driver wouldn't be ready :p I don't know what's going on with them at the moment but it seems like they've cut their budget/staff in certain areas and you can see the effects now.

I'm getting microstutter in game on my 295x2 but some review sites have said it's a problem with the game. nVidia SLI users might be fine though as they had a driver released for it yesterday.

And this is exactly why I will never go with 2+ GPU's :p

Exactly what I said to tony last night.

Ever since the news on their profits, budget cuts, people leaving etc. AMD have been pretty awful in all honesty and is seriously making me consider jumping ship now.

And even though matt etc. say that a 4 month wait for drivers won't be the norm now, that it's just a one of etc..... I just have a feeling that we are going to see this happen a lot more now.

true true, not disagreeing one bit guys.

And the thing is, I don't think there's ever been a card in history that's so important as this next one from AMD, this 390x is either going to make or break them. If it comes out and it's bad, they're going to be hit so hard, I can't see them coming back from that if it fails. Maybe that's the reason for the complete silence at the moment, maybe they know the product isn't good enough. I don't know, some things definitely feel off in the camp at the minute. There is absolutely no excuse for taking 3 months+ to release a driver for multi gpu support. If you're in the business of selling GPU's, wouldn't you put as much effort as you possibly could into providing the drivers to make people go and get more than the one gpu??? it just doesn't make sense. Before this year, I had nothing but praise for crossfire, plenty of profiles, no microstutter, flawless scaling, but since December we've had some massive games come out, but absolutely no profile to play them how we want on crossfire. That's a big F you to the customer in my eyes.

Here is an idea guys - why not play both  I see them as two very different games. If I want to get the full battlefield experience I'll play BF. If I want solid inf play I'll play HL.

ok I need to put this question to everyone because I fear I might be going mad here.

The other evening, maybe Monday nightish, did we not all have a discussion when I was talking about my monitor and how amazing it seemed so far. Kiwi was in and wasn't he telling us how Freesync seems better then G-Sync and was considering getting the BenQ freesync, and talked about selling his Swift??? Someone definitely had that conversation, I was sure it was Kiwi. Mynight help me out, I'm sure you were there as was Sidey.

I don't see why AMD can't just release an update with the crossfire profiles amongst other little fixes etc. and work on bringing the newer options like freesync, VSR etc. at a later date rather than delaying everything purely because of 2+ new features

And yup, I agree Tony, AMD really need to get the 390x spot on, no driver **** ups and no more delays please!

Oh yeh apparently I'm selling my SWIFT Nexus? @Tony I think the 390x will be a monster.

YES!

Tony was saying to me last night that you were telling him and the others a few nights ago that gsync sucks compared to freesync amongst other things and that you were getting the 390x and the benq screen!? I thought he was talking BS! :p

The thing is, you can get some great infy action on BF 4 as well! Plus I quite like the mix between infy and vehicles, keeps the game interesting.

You know I play both vehicles and infantry so I hope you'll trust me on this.

In BF4 the majority of maps are not suited for infantry - locker and metro are usually a spam fest. HL is good because they have really thought about the map design, perks and some of the basics of BF around infantry play which make it a lot of fun.

For instance I was on a streak last night and instead of dancing around like some sort of idiot in front a support player I just helped myself :D

I was thinking about freesync but after seeing the reviews I'm going to keep the swift and wait for the 980Ti which should come after the 390x.

how can they review it when the freesync driver isnt even released properly lol. Wasnt the press release driver just that, not fully functioning. And I thought most said Freesync certainly has the edge over G-Sync, and in time will be the go to?

Yeah I do agree that a lot of the bf 4 maps are very poor for infy, which is largely why I stick to vehicles for most of the maps but I do find infy play very fun on lockers, zavod, propaganda, lumphini, flood zone, hainan + the final stand maps.

The main thing that puts me of hardline or at least from what I have seen in videos is the windows/roof campers, it just looks like pearl market lol....

Will give it a few days and see if opinions change at all, also want to see some youtubers reviews.

I am mighty tempted to pick the benq screen up (tired of lazy developers when it comes to 21.9 support, motion clarity is really getting to me atm + stuttering in games and screen tearing) but have decided just to wait for a few months and see:

- what AMD are like with future drivers
- the asus and acer (prefer to avoid those brands though) g/free sync 144HZ IPS screens and any other monitors that will be announced/released

I would prefer to stick with AMD but if they keep going the way they are atm, then I don't think I will have much choice....

I can't see there being much, if any worth while difference when it comes to performance between free and g sync.

I do think that gsync will die out at some point and maybe nvidia will just be forced to support free/adaptive sync though, I see no reason for monitor manufacturers to pay for the gsync module when they have another solution, which is free and works just as well.
