The Battlefield 4 Thread 2015

Well I guess that would be at lest one piece of content for premium players then. Still SSDs are expensive and HLs is massive already.

I will be seeking a refund for my samsung 840 evo 250GB due to the performance degrading after a certain amount of time so will pick up a larger SSD as games are stupidly big these days!

And yeah not bothering with cte hardline, besides probably only for premium users......

Hopefully be on tonight for bf 4.

Yeah I cba with that. I've got bf4 cte I think but never played it.

Kinda want to try the new map.

Zavod at night and the AN94 are highlights of CTE for me.

What sort of performance are you getting?

I know their continuous write performance isn't as good as they quoted (I've seen ~200MBps on 256GB EVOs when I was expecting 400MBps+), the bigger ones are much faster though (512 & 1TB).

EVERY 840 evo suffers the problem :(

The second "supposed" fix was released a few days ago but it seems like Samsung are just going to do a "de-fragment" of the drive every few months and can't actually do anything about it since it is a hardware problem.

Here is my drive before and after with the first update:

And this is my drive as of a few days ago:

I don't move/install/uninstall stuff from this drive often so my drive isn't too bad but after a few more big uninstalls/installs, it will probably be back to the "before" performance again and require another defragment (which isn't good for SSD's)

Essentially as long as you do their defragment fix, your drive should perform well but it won't last as long (although by that time you will probably have a new SSD) and afaic, their "fix" and not acknowledging the problem and dealing with it properly is a joke.

I got mine from the rainforest so shouldn't have too much of an issue getting a refund, I can't see ocuk and other etailers being as easy to deal with though....

Ah yes I remember this issue, I was using my EVOs for network packet capture where the whole disk constantly got overwritten so didn't hit this.

I should check my 840 PRO see how that's performing after 2 years TBH.

I have 2, one from Amazon and one from Scham

Mine are both fine.

Stop being a pussy

Run hdtune and post the results then :p

The 840 pros aren't affected so they should be fine.

This is my crucial m4 128gb (my os drive) after 3 years with no defrag etc.

Mine seems to be already running the latest firmware, it must have auto installed.

No idea on the before version sadly, this is pretty much the same on my 2nd 250gb 840.

Me and Xonatic play BF4 most nights still. A mix of Lockers and vehicle maps. I'm working on mastering all the guns (61 so far). He continues to whore his 870 MCS.

My SSDs:
I'm guessing my 120GB Samsung 840 is terrible? :)
Firmware: EXT0CB6Q
50% full

You had to do two things:

- update the firmware, which was supposed to prevent it happening again
- run the samsung performance restoration program (separate download), I think this is now integrated into samsung magician 4.6

The firmware was already installed to the latest but IU'll run that performance restoration thingy now.

Edit dll'd 4.6 and new firmware is availible. Doh - noob alert!
