I have 144Hz and telll BF4 to run at 135. It may not be optimal, but it works for me. IIRC Joe was suggesting this should be set much higher.
I don't use AB or PrecisionX

On my 120hz monitor I have it set to 144. Seems smoother and less laggy. Looking at the perfoverlaygraph the cpu gives lower frametime figures too.

He's running it at 135 to reduce input lag. Internal frame capping is better than external which is what happens when running GSYNC @ 144 with maxfps @ 0.

Curious about this as well, whilst im still on a 60Hz monitor. I do use afterburner, but limit fps using bf4's user.cfg. Currently set to 80. Tried vsync but too much input lag.

I ran some tests this afternoon and posted on Youtube experimenting with different frame rate caps using the user.cfg. 144 works for me.

Its worth noting that both Hazzard and I are using GSYNC.

Check this article out: http://www.blurbusters.com/gsync/preview2/ and the refer to section: "Why is there less lag in CS:GO at 120fps than 143fps for G-SYNC?"

There was also a follow up article which strongly suggested that internally capping when using GSYNC is important.

Non GSYNC on the other hand does not suffer this issue and you should be running either maxfps 0 or something like maxfps 200.
