*** The BBC F1 2012 Coverage Thread ***

I don't think it was purely money. He's a professional and EJ and DC annoyed the hell out of him, or at least that's how it looked.

Plus what would you want to do, half the races, or full season.
I don't think that DC annoyed him, given that MB managed DC for quite a few years. EJ... yeah he'd annoy the Dalai Lama.

I think your second point is more valid. What's the point of going to all these races if half your audience is going to bugger off to the other channel and watch it there first anyway?

BTW is everyone moaning about that stupid Bob Dylan into the BBC have done? Not watch ATM, so just guessing.

Watched the BBC highlights out of curiosity, not as good as sky imo, I will definitely stick with Sky for all races, even the ones bbc has live.

Highlights were better than expected. So fairly happy.

Jury is out on Ben Edwards, see how he goes after a few races. Certainly not as bad as Legard.

Didn't like the coverage.... Intro was painful, felt rushed / crammed :( also brundle was missed. Will have to see if I can get used to it...

Watched the Sky and BBC coverage this morning, think I still prefer the BBC build up, Jake and the others seem to have a rapport that the Sky duo dont.

When the races are on both channels I think I'll be watching the BBC until the actual race, then flick over to Sky F1 for Brundles commentary, then bcak to BBC, hopefully they still do the F1 forum.

The entire program had a very rushed feeling to it, as well as having an awful new lead commentator! It's only when he's not there that you notice how much of an asset Brundle is to the commentary team; I really enjoyed the combination of Croft and Brundle on the sky coverage today. I do think that Jake is the far better lead presenter though.

I agree entirely with the post above!

Caught a bit of the BBC show at my parents, as much a I was a fan of the them over the last few years the difference in quality and capability compared to Sky is now clear. Sky are just able to do everything that much bigger and better.

I'm also not taken by Gary Anderson, I've seen a few of his pieces now and he could bore a corpse. Not his fault as most people from a technical background are like that, but maybe the BBC went too far in seeking someone to explain the mechanical side.

It felt a bit rushed and the commentary was hmmm yeh you know
but we got the pit views and driver talks that sky can't do.

They are for the live races. :)

Not sure about the non-live races, as originally it was going to be both but now just says live races.

Good news it seems... http://twitter.com/#!/mrjakehumphrey/status/179934396487438338

With regards the new "budget" BBC coverage; it was so disappointing to wake up with my laptop on the bedside cabinet but not be able to lie in bed watching practice and qualifying on iplayer. All I could do was listen to 5live with James Allen and Jaime Alguersuari. Allen sounded a little confused and Alguersuari was boring.

I used to love watching the practice sessions with Croft/Davidson - after losing Brundle the BBC really should have promoted those two to the TV before they jumped ship too.

It does seem a trifle strange that they felt the need to send Coulthard and Jake to Oz for a highlights show, and a rather unappealing one at that.

Contrary to the others, I didn't mind Ben Edwards too much. For sure (;)) he's no Brundle, but it could be worse. As for free practice, I can only imagine how appalling it must be with Algusauri and that man.
