A revised Manhunt 2 banned, report from Gamesindustry.biz

To be honest, when it was banned the first time, I thought the BBFC were being morons, now I know they are. We have the right to make up our own mind if we want to buy a product or not.

That work 100%?

Hasnt it been revelaed that these people dont actually play the game, they get too see the WORSE scenes in a game/ film and make there decision upon that?

The funny thing about things like this is that if my attitude is anything to go by - I would want to play it even more knowing the BBFC have banned it.

I find it pretty ridiculous that a single committee can decide what we can and can't play. I'm old enough to know the difference between violence in games and violence in real life, and if availability to minors, shops selling to underage kids, etc is the reason for the ban then surely they need to sort out that problem instead.

I'll probably end up getting this for my PS2 just to see what the fuss is about.

In other news, I see Nightmare on Hostel Saw Massacre Street the 13th will be out in cinemas just in time for Halloween.
I hear that it has more death and mutliation than any other film ever made, plus they kill a kitten.

BBFC make me howl.

Ban games with so called excessive violence in the but yet films with mindless violence and gore in them seemingly get passed without question with an '18' cert which the kids will just see at some point anyway.

Parents have to be trusted in cases such as this, I know from my point of view that I know exactly what my children are watching and playing at any time and anything I deem unsuitable is binned.

The BBFC seem to be treating the masses as idiots.

Theres a difference between watching and interacting. Manhunt is just mindless violence which deserves to be banned.

Doesn't bother me at all. Serves Rockstar right for trying to be so controversial.
It's an average game that sold because of controversy. Much like State of Emergency.

lol, no..............no there REALLY isnt, comapred to the fact the a game is a work of fiction BASED on reality, the other you have real people reinacting torture, snuff and pain perversion to detailed effect of realism.

Theres a difference between watching and interacting where YOU are in control. Especially with the wii version.

Manhunts focus is detailed killings which is not the case with GTA.

In which case actors should be banned from playing violent roles in case they get 'influenced' by the character they are playing and become violent themselves.

I've never understood this mentality.

When you hear people say "that should never be allowed on TV"
DON'T ****ING WATCH IT THEN!

If Johnnyfive feels that interacting with a game is more dangerous for him than watching a film, then don't buy it!

This bloody nanny state is getting worse and worse, people being told what they can, and can't do.

I am over 18, and if I want to buy Manhunt II and play it, why shouldn't I?

It isn't the games that give me violent tendancies, it's idiots telling me what I can and can't do, like they know what's best for me.

If people, over 18, are so disturbed, that they can't tell the difference between reality, and a video game, then they shouldn't be out in public, or at the very least, if a game can push these people over the top to think about comitting violent crimes, then the extra violent films of late MUST have a similar effect.

It annoys me enough that the BBFC crop our movies before we get to see them, and our games come to that. Why they think the adult British public may be so affected by a headbutt is beyond me, The Matrix for example... the UK version had the headbutts editied out. Had to get the R1 version to see it in full.

Yes, sorry, bit of a rant again there, but censorship is one subject that really really irritates the hell out of me, a bunch of tweed wearing dogooders, deciding what the rest of the public can, and can't watch.

I'm all for warnings! Why not. Release Manhunt II, and put a sticker on there, like the explicit lyrics stickers you find on CDs. Warning, explicit gore in game, as well as making it over 18 only.

Free country? My arse!

V1N.

EDIT: and just for the record, I doubt I'd have paid much interest to Manhunt II either, if it wasn't for all this nonsense with censorship. I did rather enjoy the first one on the PC, but seeing as this game is "old gen" only, then I'd probably have passed, assuming it would look out of date. Of course, now I'm also intrigued, to find out what all the fuss is about
