Theres a difference between watching and interacting. Manhunt is just mindless violence which deserves to be banned.
I've never understood this mentality.
When you hear people say "that should never be allowed on TV"
DON'T ****ING WATCH IT THEN!
If Johnnyfive feels that interacting with a game is more dangerous for him than watching a film, then don't buy it!
This bloody nanny state is getting worse and worse, people being told what they can, and can't do.
I am over 18, and if I want to buy Manhunt II and play it, why shouldn't I?
It isn't the games that give me violent tendancies, it's idiots telling me what I can and can't do, like they know what's best for me.
If people, over 18, are so disturbed, that they can't tell the difference between reality, and a video game, then they shouldn't be out in public, or at the very least, if a game can push these people over the top to think about comitting violent crimes, then the extra violent films of late MUST have a similar effect.
It annoys me enough that the BBFC crop our movies before we get to see them, and our games come to that. Why they think the adult British public may be so affected by a headbutt is beyond me, The Matrix for example... the UK version had the headbutts editied out. Had to get the R1 version to see it in full.
Yes, sorry, bit of a rant again there, but censorship is one subject that really really irritates the hell out of me, a bunch of tweed wearing dogooders, deciding what the rest of the public can, and can't watch.
I'm all for warnings! Why not. Release Manhunt II, and put a sticker on there, like the explicit lyrics stickers you find on CDs. Warning, explicit gore in game, as well as making it over 18 only.
Free country? My arse!
V1N.
EDIT: and just for the record, I doubt I'd have paid much interest to Manhunt II either, if it wasn't for all this nonsense with censorship. I did rather enjoy the first one on the PC, but seeing as this game is "old gen" only, then I'd probably have passed, assuming it would look out of date. Of course, now I'm also intrigued, to find out what all the fuss is about
