The best songs ever?

All of these have been solid additions to my playlist for a number of years now with some of them. In fact anything by Chicane or Deadmau5 has a permanent place on my apple music playlist.

Deadmau5 - Strobe

Chicane - Offshore

Tiesto - Footprints

Martin Garrix - Dont Look Down

Simon and Garfunkel - The Sound of Silence
Pearl Jam - Black
Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb
Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody
Aretha Franklin - Mockingbird

The list goes on and on and as others pointed out, it changes constantly.

Rolling stones: paint it black
Ice cube: it was a good day
Nas: one mic

aaaaargh I cannot do it I love multiple genres and there is way too much

'Best' is so hard. So have a short list of the less predictable music which haunts my musical memory.

Lately I've added this to the list. It's too early to tell whether this haunting will need exorcising. :)

I can only judge this from personal taste, rather than discussing the merits of the songwriting, composition etc. I have around 10,000 tracks in my collection and my top ten would be:

1. The Cranberries - Zombie
2. Alice In Chains - Rooster
3. Pearl Jam - Black
4. Garbage - I Think I'm Paranoid
5. Tool - Vicarious
6. The Mayan Factor - Warflower
7. Bjork - Play Dead
8. Tool - Aenima
9. Placebo - The Bitter End
10. The Gathering - Amity

Metallica's One just missed out, and if I was to extend this out, 11-20, then Alice In Chains, The Mayan Factor, Pearl Jam and Placebo would all have another entrant. The Mayan Factor are easily the most underrated band in my collection; I've never met anyone who has heard of them, yet they have two great albums in '44' and 'In Lake 'Ch'.

Anyway, here are the top three:

My eclectic list - every single song has massive significance for me and just creating the list sent chills with each one. In fact just hearing some of the rarer songs again was a tadge emotional for me.

The live version of our farewell is amazing. Definitely worth checking out there other stuff although they have changed sound quite a bit. I think my favourite album is The Heart of Everything.

For me the song "Somewhere" with Anneke van Giersbergen is stunning, think they got a couple of live version of that song. Sharon and Anneke does the song really well and powerful together.

Otherwise I find lists like this sooooooooo difficult to do as it various so much what I really love. Like now I would really put in some of the songs by Daniel Cavanagh or Anathema for example, other days it will be something by Nightwish or Metallica, other days something by Pink Floyd or Dire Straits and so on.
Will have a think and try post some later :)

Very hard one to answer as there are far too many contenders!
Sky Where Opposites Meet sprung to mind first as 30 years after first hearing it as a wee nipper it still captivates me just as it did. No singing, just 5 blokes playing their instruments in a very special way
Emperor Inno a Satana. Equally beautiful in a different way.

I like quite a lot of songs listed so far but I don't think I could ever pick one I would say is best ever.
At the moment I have copied 12gb of my CD's to memory stick and one track has stood out - can't say I have ever heard it before although I did see the film and that is Elvis singing "Doing the best I can" no doubt about it he was a good crooner - shame he lost the plot.

Perhaps this is up there https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T7GRBHoTUbg
