The big nuke

I think Nim made that but I might be wrong

Aye. Pretty sure it was Nim. Shame he doesn't seem to be around these days, funny dude :/

How many different people were going for the same usernames? I'd be shocked if someone wanted to choose some of them on here, including mine...

It doesn't matter when YOU WERE THE 40TH MEMBER TO SIGN UP!!!!!11

/Cue a bunch of Dons, UBs and Ex-mods who were automatically registered trumping my sad achievement:rolleyes::p

Wait till Spie gets here :p

I was actually a day late registering. I was sorting all my stuff out to move out of my parents place in Manchester and come down to London at the time so forgot about it the first day.
That's what reminded me it had been 5 years since the nuke, I'll have been a southerner for 5 years on Friday :(

I was around in around 99. Saw quite a few changes until the big nuke in 2002. Things have been pretty much the same since.

I've always kept the same name, although I think before the nuke I was Bug_One as spaces weren't allowed.

I remember the nuke, iirc for some reason loads of people used a program to try and download the whole forum before it would be lost, causing the forums to screw up loads.

I can't remember when I first came here though, I do remember the guns, when were they removed?

aah the good old days of the Big Nuke. I had an account registered on OCUK since 2000, when I purchased my Duron 650, Abit KT7 Mobo and Goldon Orb from here. . Then the Nuke came and all the old posts and threads were gone.

2002 really did seem like a different era -the world was a different place - and the internet seemed different - all though it was slowly becoming more main-stream.

Thinks I remember in the year or two following the Nuke - Matthew-1985 constantly going on about Gillian Anderson, and various heated political discussions in Speakers Corner.

I was 343, had trouble with my email address and registering iirc.

I'm sure i've been through 2 "big nukes".

There was another one in March 2001 IIRC. Although if memory serves it was for a different reason. I may very well be wrong but I seem to remember one was due to database problems and the other was (at least in part) related to a power struggle/disagreement of some sort.

Funny thing is I remember after the nuke 5 years ago it took me a few days to get back registered as it kept rejecting all the email addresses I was trying. A sign of the times really as to how I've got more addicted, back then missing a few days of forum activity was nothing. I remmeber my PPD used to be around 2.5 but then I started posting from work and it's crept up above 7.

I joined back in 2001 when I was pregnant with Caitlin but I wanted to join before then. I had to wait until the forums were opened for new joiners again as they were closed to new registrations for a while.

Im just pre-nuke as a lurker under a username long since forgotten in my forum username brain.

This place has grown hugely since the nuke which can only be a good thing.
