The Bourne Legacy

I share kermodes view about it being slightly strange that the title character from the films title isnt in the film. Not seen it yet but hope it isnt just dragging it out for more money and actually has something going for it.
 
On the whole, I did enjoy it quite a lot.

Opinions below...

Problems:
1) It felt like a script was written, and a movie made, and then a few extra scenes were added to tie it in with the Bourne franchise. Of course the whole plot drive was that the agents needed to be taken out, precisely because of Bourne's legacy (due to his going rogue, etc). But other than that, it just felt like a bit of measly attempt to tie this film into the universe of the original trilogy.

2) WHERE DID THAT ENDING COME FROM? We heard about how bad ass this Larax (I think) character was, and we were getting ready for an epic fight scene, yet he dies on the bike and we don't get one. Jeremy and Rachel are on the boat, and suddenly the intro from Extreme Ways comes on, and we were like... What? :confused: But, in all fairness, all the story had was Jeremy trying to get his meds, and escaping from the clutches of those searching from him, once that was achieved. So, without a bit more meat on the story, they couldn't have done a lot more with it.

But, with that being said, there were some absolutely great scenes. The part in the house, where the agents are trying to suicide Rachel, and Jeremy pops out. Absolutely great. That, along with the other short fight scenes that appeared throughout. I did miss an epic clash of the Bourne/Desh vintage, but you can't have it all.

A sequel has been set up, but it has been set up to be focused around the legal battle, involving Landy, Vosen and the CIA. There is nothing else that Aaron Cross could really do within the universe.
7.5/10 - go and see it.

i already watched this movie...there are scenes in this movie that took-up on some places in the Philippines...The Bourne Legacy does two things wonderfully.first, it fills the shoes of the killing machine jason Bourne with Jeremy Renner's equally awesome Aaron Cross.and the second; it succeds in creating a new name for itself...Renner’s performance was an incredibly driving force in the movie’s pacing, as he played his character perfectly.
 
Went to see it last night. I love the first 3 films but I was very disappointed with this one, just seemed so pointless.

Went to see it last night also, this pretty much sums it up, most of it just seemed pointless and some parts didn't really need to be in there.
 
Loved it apart from the bike chase. I thought the way they ratcheted up the tension was ace and Ed Norton rocked it. Rachel Weisz was a bit forgettable but I thought Jeremy Renner did a fantastic job. The final bike chase with the guy chasing them stunk the place out though as it just turned into James Bond. I actually winced when he did the grind down the staircase as it was just so Hollywood, but other than that, I loved it.
 
Ouch was planing on watching this tomorrow after seeing this, I don't think I want to.

The other borne films set such a high standard which would be hard to meet with a new film.

I don't want to go and be disappointed like I was with the dark knight film
 
Saw this last night and have to agree with those who say it's a bit pointless. Yes it's an entertaining yet slightly dull stand-alone film but as part of the Bourne series it really misses the mark by a large margin. Ed Norton was easily the best actor there and, while others may disagree, I don't think Jeremy Renner fit the role very well.
 
I enjoyed this film, 7/10.

It felt like the main character was never really challenged, against other similar agents, but it had direction and it was fine with me.
 
Yes it was kind of pointless as a Bourne film. But it was still a really good film imo. Gotta admit when it ended i was like wtf?! felt like it had only been an hour and a bit at most.
