I may be up for this
As far as I can see, my last exam is on the 22nd, so that should be ok. Will give it a think sometime, and try to come up with a more definite answer (although it all depends on the circumstances at the time)

Closed down for a bit and then changed names and owners as the plod had enough of the crap, got donw after the evening post had a big front page story with a picture of what was basically a roit going on outside, where a few people got beat half to death.

I remember Evo being ok when i used to go there when i was about 15, they wern't too bothered about ID, but seemed to be bothered about letting ***** in. Never saw any trouble in the year or two i spent going there.

The Works in Nottingham got shut down too haha :D

I would have thought about coming, but then I saw the word "Oceana" and I died a little inside.

Spud21 has the right idea. DNB > * in clubs.

Tbh, if you were thinking of coming to a meet just for the music, you'd be missing out a hell of a lot of the point of meets anyway. :)

Of course I wasn't lol....

I doubt I could come and kick Sic's arse anyways (the reason I'd come), because I'm running a little low on funds at the moment.

Agreed. Personally, if pubs were open as late as clubs I would stay in the pub all night. The fun of the meets is getting the crack and talking to the other forum members there. As it goes, if it were to turn out everyone wanted to go clubbing I would go along as that's where everyone would be. Music isn't the be all and end all (this is coming from someone who hates certain types of clubby music) at meets, far from it.

Well that pretty much summed up exactly how I feel but better put than I probably could have phrased it :p

Wouldn't we be better off in a bar/pub with a late licence and a dancefloor for those so inclined? How late does the Greenhouse stay open?
A lot of it is going to come down to what people feel like at the time because it'll be late-ish anyway, don't really see much point in making strict decisions for that late in the night because everyone will be together by that point and you're all adults not school children :p. Like I said earlier, if suddenly everyone feels in the mood for say, karaoke, clubbing or curry, then I'm sure that can be arranged. We'll have a lot of choices basically. :)
The most important thing is the meeting place which has been arranged and a rough idea of where we're going after which I think's been given.

DnB is cool if it's fast and happy - but guys, the waterfront is full of bars (bar room bar, bsb, etc) that stay open 'til 2am - and I'm sure they play enough cheese to keep the dancers going - but allow enough seating to keep the shyer (aka. terrible dancers who know it) people happy :p

No such thing as a terrible dancer when drink is involved :D

as has been said, Oceana was only one suggestion, things could very likely change depending on the group, plenty of places to go. Haly, maybe you can change the front bit about Oceana slightly? :)

Me too.

Personally, I can take or leave clubbing. I'm just as happy having a drink and chatting with my new buddies as I am getting plastered and making a tit of myself dancing.

If we do go to a club on these meets it's usually a cheesy one, so anyone looking for proper clubbing with ear splitting dance music is probably going to be disappointed.

These meets are attended by a wide variety of people from old farts like me to lively youngsters - all tastes need to be catered for and experience has shown that cheesy sits well with more people than loud dance music.

At the Newcastle meet we found a nice pub on the waterfront with a beer garden which was open late and decided we would rather stay there than go to a club - we had a bloody good night.

That was a good meet, the evening was pretty relaxed and no-one felt under any pressure to try to keep to a set formula - we just went with the flow and had a great time.

My tuppenceworth.

Stan :)

wayhay i'll probably be in hong kong for this but (i've gotta check the tenancy agreement first), my flight might be bare and empty if people need a place to crash (not a guarantee on when rent runs out)

i went to oceana on a saturday once, it was dead expensive.

Going with the flow is pretty much what I've been considering :) Although Baddass is right that I probably could have phrased it better, didn't realise there'd be such a backlash though! Personally I'll probably be quite happy either just sitting and talking till late, going to a cheesy club or doing something else, I'm going for the people rather than the events so it doesn't really bother me.

Anyway, edited accordingly. :)
