FKP1000 and PBW Wheel sealant are both popular for wheels, I have the latter.

Generally, you want whatever you use on your wheels to be a bit more durable.

Right i want to sort the paintwork out on my ibiza for good!

I have been hand polishing and waxing and have been pleased with results but its time to take things to the next level.

So i need advice on a decent machine polisher and all the other bits and pads i will need. I dont want to spend much as its only a 2001 ibiza.

Any help would be amazing

What's the best cleaner for doing the dash.

I bought some from Halfords that looked quite good, was a Matte finish for dark plastics, however when I use it, it just seems to bring up a whitish stain which I have to use water to get rid of

What do people here use?

Sorry to bump but any ideas?

I'm sure people could recommend kits and polishers but when you say you don't want to spend too much, nobody knows what that really means. I can point you at what I think is good but I don't fancy shopping around to meet a budget. A great place to start is here:

9 guides, with links to products. You don't have to buy them from PB, but you can get an idea of how much you might want to spend and how much time you want to chuck in.

A good machine at an affordable price is the DAS6, a lot of companies sell DAS6 kits, have a look on detailing world.

I use cleanyourcar.co.uk and highly recommend it.

Yea i already read through all of that its very useful,

What im saying is i dont need to get top of the range stuff as it will be useless in my un skilled hands. I dont even mind going second hand.

So what in your opinion is a good starter model thats as idiot proof as possible?

As above, the DAS6. It's everywhere for a good reason. Safe as houses as well unless you go spastic with it.

Are you looking to correct defects in the paint work i.e(swirls, marring, holograms). If so I can't think of anything cheaper than the DAS6 except for rotaries but I wouldnt go there if its your first time with a machine.

As you say its only 2001 Ibiza, so use it for practice, then when you get something newer/nicer you will be able to keep the paintwork looking its best. Personally I would save your money until you can afford a DAS6 or you can just buy an orbital machine out of B&Q for applying SRP which would give you good results although obviously wouldnt correct any defects only mask them.

My paintwork is a state. Swirl marks aplenty and a lot of light scratches i cant buff out by hand in the door panels.

The idea is to practice now so when i get a better car i can keep it up to scratch.

So as well as a DAS6 what over equipment should i be after?

Polish and pads.

There are a wide range of polishes and pads so I would shop around and do some reading up on them, but you can't go wrong on any of them.

Menzerna, megs, Sonus, 3M etc all do polishes and pads. Its also handy to invest in 3-4 inch backing plate + pads for those niggly areas(bootlids, door frames etc).

I use menzerna polish and lake country pads.

Sorry for bad photos. Was in the old mans garrage and saw this?

Would this be any good for now or a complete waste of time? I suspect the later but never hurst to ask.
