Not sure yet. Will bill him on Monday when the jobs finished. Still got to clay some of the Jag as it was detailed by the last fella not long ago and just needs a top up. Also still a coat of wax to put on.

The interior is also gleaming now. He doesn't clean cars so it was pretty mucky!

that will be the plastic, even had it at work,

was walking past an estate accord, and with the correct angle/and sunlight the rear quarter panel/fuel flap and rear bumper looked three different shades of crystal black.

And yet you drive a dirty Mondeo with duck tape on the bumper. Shame on you :p

Yah :p

There was a time I used to look after it and clean it quite regularly but over the long winter, I hadn't bothered and can't get back into the swing of things though.

I have to say that it's an absolute joy to work on Jags etc and get paid for it.

There's an E46 M3 booked in next week and also next Thursday i'm being let loose on a 997 GT3 RS! :D

Without reading near 90 pages, the sunlight has revealed some seemingly light scratches on my car, one spreads over 3 panels! To a complete idiot, what would be the best way to get these out? Thanks.

peterattheboro if I supplied you with all the products, how much would it cost if you came to clean my car in South West London/Surrey border? If you travel that far

So you've just randomly got a job washing cars and are now a 'detailer' because you are booked onto a course? Crikey this market is going the way of the photography market where there are 100,000,000 people who are experts because they bought a DSLR..

I think this is one of those business's that is going to become epic then when saturated go rapidly into decline.

Like traditional valeting did.

That's why it wants milking now, while there is still room to float the boat.

Will email you via trust. Can't discuss business on the forum.

Sounds like i've done something wrong?

I actually run my own photography company aswell targetting weddings and i'm getting bookings but they are all for next year. So I have some free time on my hands.

Also i've not said i'm a detailer because i'm going on a course. I wouldn't even class myself as a 'detailer' yet.

Tomorrows course is just machine polishing. It's the only aspect of 'detailing' that I can't do so I need to learn asap. It sounds like an awesome day as the guy who runs the course has a friend who runs a used car showroom and he lets him use the cars they have. So the tutor teaches me how to machine polish and the showroom gets a free paint correction. :)

Gonna try and get my car done on Sunday if the weathers good so i'll post up some pictures.

Seems like you work for your mates car washing business to me rather than actual 'detailing', seems a bit weird really. Can't see how it pays myself? Which is exactly my point, its like the 'web hosting' bubble a few years ago where every Counter-Strike player thought he was amazing because he resold some hosting and made no money, then we moved onto everyone doing IT repairs, then suddenly everyone was David Bailey because they had a DSLR now everyone thinks they are some sort of professional because they can wash cars, its just daft.

If you had some sort of unique skillset then I totally get the idea of going into business but the proper side of detailing to me is the paint correction stuff - the stuff you admit you cant do and IMHO you'll never pick it all up on a single day course. Effectively you are... just washing cars

Only its all made to sound very posh, you don't 'wash somebodies car' you 'visit a client'..

Maybe spend the time brushing up on your business skills if your photography company has an order book of zero for the rest of the year?

Interestingly having read my post back I'm not even sure what my point is. I'm just having a ramble I guess, it's more a general thing I've wondered for ages rather than specifically about you, you just happened to remind me about it :p

Errmmm.. Thanks for your input. Appreciated as always :)

I agree with the course. However like I say, i'll do a full car tomorrow under supervision and i'm going to sacrifice my own car (which badly needs it) on Sunday if the weathers nice so i'll get plenty of practice. I have all the tools for the job at my disposal which will obviously make it easier for me.

I'll post up a few before and after pics of my Dads car when we get it back, it's gone off to be 'detailed'. I don't normally bother posting pics of parents cars etc on here but I guess it might be nice to see some before and after pics of a pros work in this thread.

I decided I had nothing like the skills required to tackle the paint correction it needed.
