First attempt with the following:

Silverline super duper silverstorm.
3M backing pad.
Chemical guys polishing + finishing pads.
Megs #80

Pretty happy but it really does show up how people like to drive these cars, and how hard it is to keep CW 1998 paintwork in great nick. But the biggest thing is that the non-polished side looks like a horrible matt and oxidised white now in comparison!

Wish I had quality new paint like lots of you guys, but ho hum I have plenty of y000000000 instead :D

spent 5.5hrs giving my car a thorough clean today, and got some serious sunburn on my back :(
but why can i not get it to shine like everyone elses cars? is it because the car is white, so cannot see the reflections as much?

and is there an easy way of removing bug juice? my front bumper gets covered in bug juice and it takes me ages to scrub it off, and at times i feel as though the bumper is going to crack or break off because i'm scrubbing so hard :o

Yes, plus the concave shape panels all over the car are going to make reflections disappear.

Ordered 5.5'' lake country css pads today:
Yellow cutting.
Orange light cutting.
White polishing.
Green Light Polishing / Finishing Pad
4,75 inch Flexible Backing Plate

Also, because it was on offer, I got a bottle of wax:
Chemical Guys Pure Carnauba Creme Wax (Banana Wax)

Nearly have a complete collection now for detailing my paintjob, only don't have abrasive products yet. I do have AG SRP though which I'll try soon with the light polishing pad.

Next month I'll probs order Poorboy's world SSR 1, 2.5 and 3.

Am I correct that I can use Super Resin Polish for the fillants (if polishing didn't work out/ didn't remove most of the scratches) after polishing with SSR, before topping it with wax ? Or should I buy a dedicated glaze like black hole ?

Wear driving shoes from home to work, pick shoes from footwell when reaching work which matches clothes? Possibly saves carrying/switching shoes every day.

Us blokes haven't got that problem.

Well a week on from polishing/sealing etc, I thought I'd give it another wash...

Initial hosing. Got beeding/sheeting?

 Quite impressed with that... Really shows the polish/sealant doing its job! Made cleaning it far more effortless

Once cleaned and dried, used some detailing spray and some glass cleaner:

Rather impressed with the result! Makes it look 'just-polished' while hopefully keeping the existing polish/sealant in place, and removes all the nasty watermarks.

I think I've become convinced of the slightly finer points of car washing ;)

Going to give mine a damn good polishing next weekend, so far on my list of items to-get I've got Dodojuice rainforest rub, Megs scratch-X, Bilberry wheel cleaner, Megs fast glass and some various washing paraphernalia, it's expensive this cleaning lark :p

Is there any glaring must-haves that I may have left out on my list? Also as far as I understand does Scratch-X not doing exactly the same as the swirl stuff but is just 'better' at scratches?

Forgot to mention I already have a big bottle of Megs SRP which has served me well :)

Just thought of other stuff I need to buy too! Some good bumper blackener and interior cleaning products. Might also invest in some of the leather cleaning stuff that was mentioned a few pages back.
