I think he is referring to the UK bit, but thats actually not illegal. Might be missing a BSAU 145d marking as well.

I thought they had to be blue?

If the plate is illegal, I'd suspect its pre-2001 - considering how easy it is to get a legal plate locally, its unlikely the owner would have gone for an illegal one off the internet for the sake of a few quid.

Hey guys

After 12 months of complete negligence, the Commodore is in a pretty bad state and I really need to do something about it. I've been doing some reading in this thread and on Detailing World about how to go about this and now have a good idea on what needs doing. The only problem I have now is that I don't actually own any car care products whatsoever so need to purchase the lot. Does the following list look suitable and comprehensive?

Washing
Meguiar's Lambswool Wash Mitt
Meguiar's Hyper Wash
Microfibre Waffle Weave 60 x 90 Drying Towel

Claying
Meguiar's Quik Clay Detailing System

Polishing
Meguiar's Even Coat Applicators Twin Pack
Autoglym Super Resin Polish
Microfibre Polishing Towel 40 x 60

Waxing
Meguiar's #26 Mirror Glaze Hi-Tech Yellow
Microfibre Polishing Towel 40 x 60

If anyone has any suggestions on alternative products that may be more suitable for a similar price I'm all ears. Cheers.

I cleaned my puny 2 litre 4 cylinder car today, it is shiny and ready for whatever the skies have in for it over the course of the following week!

You see the horses just oozing to bust out from that rocker cover right there ¬_¬

I know i asked a few pages ago, struggling still!

What about...

auto glym shampoo
a scratch remover (for swirles and fain scratches)
auto glym super resin polish
then auto glym extra gloss protection

?

Hey thanks!

I do try to look after it as best as possible but age and use does get the better of some parts so I have some replacements and refurbs planned as and when I have time and the spare cash but these are by no means immediate things to do.

Interior is also as clean yes :)

I'm a fan of AutoGlym products, and some of the kits/combo bags they do are quite good.
I use AG Body Shampoo & Conditioner to wash with (smells like bubblegum too!), AG High Resin Polish & AG High Definition Wax - just those 3 for a standard wash.

The AG Fast Glass spray works very well, finished with AG Glass Polish and for the trim I use AG Vinyl & Rubber spray. Took quite a few attempts to get the trim on the Micra back to black but the results were fantastic. Unfortunately I haven't a clue when it comes to interior cleaning products.

I'm by no means an expert/detailer but I enjoy putting the effort in. I'm sure you'll get some better recommendations from the more learned folk!

Better off with AG Bumper Care for restoring black trim, itll feed the plastic and last longer.

Why Megs 26 Wax? It's decent enough, but not very durable and you can certainly do better for the money. Megs 16 for example is a better choice generally. Otherwise, everything else is fine. Where are you buying from?

Russ.

Bumper Care is okay at best. See if you can get Megs Gold Class Trim Detailer from Halfords, if you must buy from there.

Otherwise, try 303 Aerospace Protectant or something like Chemical Guys New Look Trim Gel.

I was going to go for the M16 right up until I realised that you can't actually get the stuff here in Adelaide as it simply isn't imported.

I'm looking at buying some stuff from http://www.zas.com.au/ and the rest from a couple of local Halfords type shops.

So what wax would you advise going for that would be better for a similar price?

Cheers :)
