Chaps, what do you recommend to use to apply AG SRP? Would Megs foam applicator pads be ok - the soft yellow round ones? I normally use them for applying wax.

Yes, they'll be fine. I usually soak mine, and then wring them out first - makes everything a hell of a lot easier (for anything not necessarily just SRP).

DS2500's and new rear pads have kicked out some serious amounts of brake dust! Very very impressed with 2 coats of Poorboys.

Just a wash & dry today (clayed, sealed & waxed in June) & interior hoover & shampoo. Then decided to bang an extra layer of PB on the wheels.

Not impressed with Renaults ridiculously soft paint which since buying the car 3 months ago has started chipping like a mo-fo!

It's in need of some paint correction, has a fair bit of swirling and the odd light scratch here & there.

I'm aware some of these are over-exposed, I'm still learning to use my SLR properly!

Sits quite high when on the drive/lawn as it's uneven. Stilts ahoy!

Think I'm addicted to the smell of AG Interior Shampoo too :p

I need to sort the paint on the Seven. It's got a lot of swirl marks and is a dark colour.
What do you recommend? I was thinking of claying, then something like Megs paint renovator, then a polish, then a wax. Sound ok?

You'll struggle to correct BMW paint by hand I'm afraid as it's generally quite 'hard'

You'd do well to clay it though, and then look at something like Super Resin Polish which contains a lot of 'fillers' which will help mask your swirls, but it won't remove them

Ideally you need your paintwork correcting with a machine polisher...

Poo!
Ok, I'll clay it and use a resin polish.
Anyone recommend a place that can do the machine polishing for me in the Reading area?

Your money would be better spent on buying yourself a dual action polisher.

You'll be impressed with the results when you get to grips with it. No chance of rogering your paint either - they're as safe as houses. :)

I'd be inclined to give Blackhole a go by hand first, it'll do a better job of filling than SRP and is easier to use, too. Does require a fair bit of elbow grease to work it enough for the best results, though.

That's one nice Clio Benny, puts mine to shame but I do love it really! :p

Ta.

It's not in my good books at the moment as it absolutley guzzled through half a tank today (Watford to Bedford and back) traffic is not only boring but expensive!

Good fun when you're not stationary ;)

I'm after some decent wax, I've been using Meguiars nxt wax for a while and it's OK but it doesn't last long. I have read most of this thread and know there's a massive choice of wax's out there so I'll make it easy - I'm going to choose between autoglym hd, dodo juice blue velvet or some Natty's paste wax. Also, is it worth me buying some poorboys black hole glaze to apply before the wax? I currently use SRP and I'm not sure if it's worth applying the black hole glaze after the SRP and before the wax? Sorry for the noob questions but I'm keen not to waste cash on useless car cleaning stuff like I have done at halfrauds in the past!

I have the HD wax and Dodo Blue Velvet. The HD lasts longer but as far as looks go I cannot tell. Both bead up nicely. Not sure on the Glaze I'm afraid!

Due to my Father purchasing a new Accord, his old one was up for grabs. Having been putting 16k miles a year for the last few years,on the modded Octavia vRS I decided, due to his cheap selling price and time for a more grown up car was coming my way.

Having owned a black ITR a few years back, I knew they didn't have the best paint, but it seems to have got a lot worse, this 07 was looking more grey than black. It's not been cleaned that often due to it's lack of use, but when it did, out came the pressure washer and heavy duty TFC :wall:. I treated his bank balance to a new snow foam adapter and some snow foam.

I had a few days off, so it was time to sort her out.

Products Used

Autobrite Snow Foam
Zymol Natural Car Wash
PB Luxury Drying Towel
Clearkote Clay
Clearkote QD

Meguiars DACP

Bilberry Wheel Cleaner
Poorboy's Wheel Sealant

Poorboy's Black Hole
Poorboy's Natty's Blue

Daisy APC
Zaino Z9 & Z10
Poorboy's Natural Look Dressing
Meguiars Endurance High Gloss
Aquapel on the glass.

So the order of the day was,

Day 1
Snow foam and rinse, Hand wash and rinse, Clay, DACP.

Day 2
Hand wash and rinse, Black Hole, Natty's Blue

Day 3
Hand wash and rinse, Natty's Blue, Clearkote QD.

It took three days, as I was also sorting out bits and bobs on the vRS ready for her depature, and also cleaned four other cars, and on the new Accord I sealed the alloys.

Now the good stuff:

These pictures, don't really show how bad the car looked, to say it didn't really look black isn't that much of an understatement.

I 50/50 the boot, and after working in the DACP it wasn't 100%, but I had no other products to use, I spent a bit more time on the panels, and it yielded slightly better results, but it was a world away from how it started :buffer:

I have no middle pictures as I was so busy, but here's the money shots for you all.

The interior wasn't so bad, a few crumbs in the creases of the leather and some mud here and there. Quick hoover, brush, APC and then it was time to treat the leather to some Zaino goodness, and the vinyl to Poorboy's.

It's been a hard slog, but the end result is worth it! Car looks like new, and very happy with the smell of all the Poorboy's products :argie:, she beads very well right now, but will see how it lasts with 16k and monthly washes.

Here's a little flash back from the other black Honda

Thanks for looking.

I could use a little advice. Have been trying to correct a mates Focus which has been subjected to serious mechanical car wash abuse by the looks of it. Anyway I found that even Megs 105 on the most aggressive pad I have wasn't giving a great finish, 90% of the swirling gone, but there's enough remaining so that it still looks mildly swirly.
I'm thinking maybe it's the pad, just the white one that came with the silverline machine. I don't usually need to use harsh pads, hence I've not bought a better one. You guys think this could be the issue?

Got a PTG?

Keep going if you have plenty of depth to play with. Also the paint could be very soft (has it had a respray in the last 6 months?) and when you wipe away product, you could be adding fresh marks with your cloth?

Ohh and you're obviously using a clean pad?
