I have just clayed my brothers Celica... first time using the stuff and its incredibly satisfying! Paint is now nice and smooth, looks good!

Does anyone have any recommendations for headlight plastics that have turned yellow/cloudy?

Thanks :)

Meg's PlastX and failing that, varying grades of Wet n' Dry.

I'm sure the's a thread about is on here somewhere (or is it another forum) with the step-by-step to restoring a headlight back to clear.

I could use a little advice. Have been trying to correct a mates Focus which has been subjected to serious mechanical car wash abuse by the looks of it. Anyway I found that even Megs 105 on the most aggressive pad I have wasn't giving a great finish, 90% of the swirling gone, but there's enough remaining so that it still looks mildly swirly.
I'm thinking maybe it's the pad, just the white one that came with the silverline machine. I don't usually need to use harsh pads, hence I've not bought a better one. You guys think this could be the issue?

If its anything like my paint, its silly soft and you're probably re-inflicting the marring.

DC2 looked really nice Floyd!
Thanks, she was a beauty, an amazing car in every way. Back then I had the time to look after her, and drive her the way she was intended for. Life and motorway mileage caught up with me, so I had to let her go before she suffered :p

I'd have some really nice photos on my main rig, but sadly that's 60 miles away, will see if I can dig up some photos of her off some old web space.

What stuff do you cleaning gurus recommend

I've got a couple of microfibre cloths
But the wax in the olde family shed is old stuff

If I go to halfords with 40 notes what should I get?

Strictly beginner stuff really I've never really properly waxed a car

Snow Foam...talk to me! Wheres best to buy these lances/the actual snow foam, and what benefits does snow foam have over conventional shampoo washing?? I always see pics of peoples cars covered in the foam, but never looked into it lol

Snowfoam only loosens the dirt so it's very very easy to spray off with the pressure washer. This is the first step to washing the car.

Once you've left the foam to settle for 10 minutes you'll spray it off and then wash the car with your shampoo.

From halfords i'd personally stick with the Meguiars products. The Gold Class shampoo and conditioner and the carnauba car wax.

Get yourself a wash mitt, some applicator pads and a drying towel.

Should all come in budget.

Ok so my list is

Meguiars gold class shampoo conditioner
Meguiars carnauva wax

A sheepskin wash mitt ( i presume you use this to put on the shampoo yeah?)

I went there earlier and couldnt see applicating pads or towels though?

I went into a Halfords the other day to buy more pads and they didn't have anything. I think only the larger stores stock them.

Will be the same with towels.

This will sound dumb I promise you but..

The pads are for applying wax I guess
But I'm assuming that the towel is for rubbing the wax after its on?

Do you wait for the car to dry after washing or is it better to dry it with something

Why are people saying this? I've already said that the fine swirling is gone and just the deeper stuff left. I've only ever done Jap OE and cheap refinish paint before so I know a thing or two about soft paint and hologramming. This is nothing like that.

The one in the gold tin looking all retro and stuff?

I bought that a while back to compare with 476s and felt that it was a letdown in comparison. Harder to buff off, harder to apply.

People get different results, there is always the Kevin Brown Method for 105/205...some people swear by it, others see it as hype. By DA, I like it with 205 as it really does jewel up.

It's non-diminishing so unless you have a really, really short work time, I'd guess at pressure first, then maybe look at your pad choice.
