Anybody had any experience with Tesco's microfibre cloths/washmitts? They've got 5 microfibre cloths for £3 and a microfibre cleaning set that includes a sponge/washmitt/alloy brush and cloths for £5, seems pretty decent.

I've procratinated doing my cars first glaze and seal for too long, mainly because I live in a flat without a garage and water/electricity supply.

I've got the car washed at work today so it's got most of the dirt off.

Can I just go ahead and glaze and seal this weekend or do I have to clay before doing these steps?

I won't have the time (or the endurance) to clay, glaze and seal tomorrow by myself by hand

It's better than nothing at this stage, what do you think?

Why not? Its not exactly hard work, rubbing your arm up and down for a few hours. Can have a break in between layers.

Ideally you will want the paint as clean as possible, so if you cant be arsed to clay, get a paint cleaner to ensure there are no contaminants on the surface that will ruin your hard work.

I think it may rain tomorrow so wanted to be quick although the more I read about skipping out claying the more I don't think it's a wise idea, especially since it's never had a detail before.

So I will do a quick wash, clay, wash this weekend, then next weekend do a wash, glaze, seal then done!

Seems to be Nationwide at the places that stock it, googled it and most of their products are listed as 100% extra free anyway :)

I finally did it! well most of it, need to just do the sides tomorrow but it's looking fantastic so far.

It was filthy so had it cleaned at work yesterday (live in flat, no water or electricity point near car) to get the majority of the dirt off.

So today did everything you would see if flying overhead (bonnet, roof, top of trunk)

Started with a quick zymol shampoo > meguiars clay > rinse > MF cloth dry > poorboys black hole glaze > buff > poorboys ex-p seal > buff > cream crackered :o

Even got the wife to wash the wheels > poorboys wheel seal & clean the windows and door sills and meguiars nxt metal polish the exhaust :D

What do you think? The paint is 10 years old and there are some chips here and there but overall its sparkly :D I'm really chuffed

If they are the kent car care ones, they are crap, utterly hopeless at drying, and poor for buffing wax. Having said that, this is my experience with every microfibre cloth i've used, up to and including expensive 3M ones.

I have much respect for people who detail for a living, it is back breaking work especially when you are 20 stone

After another 3 hours today I completed the sides and I'm so stoked how she came out I have to post more pics of completed car, gleaming in the sun :D

Thanks to all the people I got advice from reading through this thread.

Really wanted to get out this weekend and wash the car as it's filthy, but it's just been so bloody cold I just can't be bothered. Maybe next weekend.

My Clio 200 has now covered a total of 400 miles in the 6 weeks since I picked it up and is due a clean.

I have the normal Autoglym stuff which you'd find in Halfords but it's about time I invested in some better stuff. I can borrow a pressure washer from my parents and I have a couple of buckets. What would I need to get me going?

Hey gents, I'm getting a set of wheels refurbed and resprayed (not powdercoated). What do you recommend I put on them to protect them?

I currently have a snow foamer and bilberry wheel cleaner for actually cleaning them
