Mini Owners

Can any cooper/cooper S owners give me some recommendations as to what they use?

Picking up a cooper for the wife in a couple of week and I have a nice collection of cleaning bits for my colour coded car but the mini seems to have a sea of different materials including black plastic and chrome!

Im looking to buy a detailing spray that does a good job on chrome (already have megs UQD but see not mention of chrome) and are looking at something like FinishKare 425 or Poorboys Spray & Wipe.

For the black plastics I am looking at Chemical Guys - New Look Trim Gel.

Do these sound good or do any mini owners have other ideas?

Thanks

Ordered my MP last night. Das-6 Pro, Sonus pads and Merenza polishes/compounds. Also some more clay, detailer spray, foam lance for the pressure washer and some foooooaaaaaam.

So this question isn't strictly cleaning related. Well, it is in a way since a machine polish is what will follow any work I do, but I'm hoping someone on here may be able to help.

The bonnet on my MX5 has certainly seen better days, but I'm in the process of spending some cash to get it all put right. This bodywork on the bonnet has annoyed me for quite some time now, but I'm no expert on these things so I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

Now, I'm not looking for a 100% pristine finish as it won't be winning any shows anytime soon, but I'd like it to look much better than it does now. I'm hoping that there's a solution that would allow me to correct the paintwork at home rather than paying out a fair whack for the work.

I've attached some pictures so you can see what I mean. I had my fingers crossed that I might be able to end up with a passable finish with some grit sandpaper, some touch up paint, followed by a claying and machine polish. Would it be possible or is it too far gone?

Cheers.

Going to do a mega wash at some point soon, any suggestions for products to use on vinyl go faster stripes? :) Regular shampoo might be best I suppose but I wonder if anyone has done anything different?

I imagine you could sand those spots back, repaint & lacquer them and then polish the whole bonnet up. Might take a while though and the finish will depend on your patience and skill.

Perfect bar an issue from the RR day. How's yours doing, might be easier to take to e-mail :D (fyi mine has changed, use the one in trust here).

Jealous++++. Though that must be costing him so much on company car tax he'd surely have been much better off taking the cash and buying one himself?

I don't know to be honest. I think he gets a lot of fuel covered, and does drive around quite a lot... if that makes a difference - I know very little about company car tax.

Some great cleaning jobs on show in this thread.
Couple of questions. What should I use to clean my exhaust tip? It's a bit black and sooty at the mo and I'd love to get it shiny again.
Also I cleaned the car last week and gave it a good covering of super resin polish and extra gloss protection. The car looked stunning for about 2 days before being covered in dust from the nearby building site. Do I spend another 5 hours washing and polishing/protecting this weekend or can I get away with a quick rinse/wash/rinse?
