Little tip i learned today, Autoglymn SRP works just fine as a glass cleaner.

Ran out of autoglymn glass polish, so nipped to our local village motorspares place for some more. He'd ran out but said to give SRP a try as the rep had admitted to him the two are based on the same formula.

Went home and tried it, et voila ! worked perfectly ! lol

Well that tyre cleaner is pretty good :) Cleaning the tyres make the wheels look so much better.

Does anyone here go to a public jet wash to clean their cars?
We dont have a hose or electricty in our parking compound so I cant wash the car at home. Ive been passed a few garages which have jet washing stations and was thinking about taking all my cleaning stuff along and doing it there, I just feel a bit self conscious about it as it can take a good hour to wash the car down :D

just jet wash and dry it then take it home and use your other cleaning stuff

I don't have a hose at my flat either. I take the car to the jet wash and use the pre-wash shampoo and rinse (do not use the brush).

I then drive home and use the two-bucket method to wash the car by hand, polish, wax etc.

I've got a massive (45m) extension lead so I can plug it in and lower it into the car park from the flat. That lets me vacuum and machine polish at home but most garages have a vac as well as a jet wash so you don't really need electricity.

The worst part is carrying the buckets up and down the stairs repeatedly.

Method:

1. Rinse - lightweight rinse simply with a watering can + Rose
2. Two bucket wash with a microfibre Mitt
3. Rinse again
4. Tar/fly spots removed with some dodgy Ixtar stuff I got with the car
5. Tyre Slick, some random foaming stuff from Halfords.

Maybe I should spend some time weeding the drive next weekend...

:)

I see that and fair enough but it's just when I read this

I can't see how some high gloss is going to help if i drive through a puddle. I guess I expect the tyres to get dirty as that's their job, it's like I wouldn't bother clean the mop.

Errr....

it eliminates overspray, drips, streaks and spotted driveways which you get when using some competiting tyre dressing products. You don't apply tyre dressing to eliminate overspray, drips and streaks! You apply Meguiars tyre dressing instead of Tesco Value in order to, allegedly, eliminate overspray, drips and streaks.

Tyre dressing is purely to make the tyres look good.

Managed to drop my lambs wool wash mitt on to the drain cover when emptying the bucket out, I've thoroughly washed it out and and can't see any bits in the fibres, would it be ok to use or should I just buy another?

If you've thoroughly washed it then it's fine. It's not a claybar where if you drop it it's done for :p

Next question, I need some decent micro fibre cloths any old brand do? my terry towels actually scratch the car now.

Some microfibres tend to need a little dampening before they pick up water but yeah, I've used Tesco MF cloths (Pack of 3 for £1/£2) and never had a problem drying and cleaning windows. best have them slightly damp for windows though as then you totally eliminate any dried smearing when washing in the sun.in the sun.

God damn mother ****ing flies!!!

I started to wash my car at noon on Saturday and eventually finished at 10:15pm!!! Took me 10 hours to Shampoo, Clay, Polish Gloss and Wax my car :D Now I swear I have RSI in my wrist!! But oh man was it worth it! I was really, really happy how it turned out :)

For a 4 year old 30k mile car I was surprised how much gunk came off when I clayed it! The clay bar went really yellowy brown after just a few rubs.

Anyway, I had to use the car on Saturday night and looking at it now I appear to have killed a giant swarm of flies :( All over the front and the windscreen.

What would be the best way to remove all these flies without messing up any of my hard work? Any tips?

Cheers :)

Totally random question that has probably been covered already so apologies if that's the case...

When using alloy wheel cleaner stuffs, do you all take the wheels off the car, or just spray it on with the wheel still on? I only ask because it will obviously hit things like the brake disk, which could have adverse affects no?
