Damn, all this playing with different keyboards on Android is not boding well for typos :p

Had a quick go at cleaning my dad's Skoda yesterday/today because it was absolutely caked in dirt. Didn't get any photos of the whole car because he decided he was going to change the oil in the garage when I was going to take a photo, but this is the best reflection shot I could manage:

I'm no good at cleaning or detailing by any means, made worse by the fact it seems to rain every time I think about cleaning a car at the moment, but I thought it was a decent reflection. A bit of Scratch X, and AutoGlym Super Resin Polish.

Having never been a car cleaning type (lots of company cars) i decided that i would make an effort esp as a mate has offered to machine polish it in the spring.

I hit halfords and got some basic stuff, bug/tar removal spray, srp, wheel cleaner stuff and have done both cars.

The highlight was a clay bar kit i bought months ago for nothing from the forest place, amazed at the difference it made and now i actually understand what people mean when going on about glass like finish!

Anyhoo, the bug/tar removal stuff was halfords own and didn't seem all that effective - what should i buy for tar spots?

I also fancy getting a pressure washer and snow foam lance as i am after a pressure washer anyway - any recommendations, would be light use so don't want to spend a fortune but also don't want to buy a cheap one and it be useless?

Finally, i didn't get any wax so will order some online, recommendations for a wax and whats best to apply it with?

I've spent the past two days doing my Vauxhall.

First time at using my DA too. Very chuffed with the results. I quickly used a spray wax just to get it through the night, tomorrow I'll apply a few layers of Chemical Guys' Black Light Sealant.

On second thoughts after seeing it under my phones flash it needs another pass maybe with something more abrasive and then refining with a finishing compound. Still it's a marked improvementfrom before.

Awesome results but i thought this was done, dusted and a deposit taken? Why risk the (albeit minute) chance of doing damage when it's been sold to somebody else? He's signed on the dotted line, its done :p

Or have you seen sense and decided to keep what is actually a pretty awesome car and does not need replacing :p

His email that he sent me today....

James

I am very sorry but I am no longer in a position to buy your car. I had an accident in my wife's car this morning which has caused a bit of damage. This has caused a problem with my insurance and put my premiums up on a Monaro to a point that I cannot justify it.

I am very sorry about this .

Regards

Denis

Some people have a figure they just will not pay above though! I'll never ever pay more than 2k for insurance, for example :p
