Thats how I used it, applied to te affected area before using SRP.

Oh right. I bought some before wanting to polish the whole car, but never used it as meant to buy Ultimate Compound instead. But I've seen some videos online of people using Scratch X on whole panels etc.

Is it still safe to use it like this, over large areas? My bootlid in particular has some quite heavy swirling/hazing so I was thinking of doing the whole section with Scratch X.

I'll leave that to the experts :p

Personally if the panel is scratched then use it? If its a small part then why use more than you need to?

But that's me, no doubt someone will come and pick holes on that logic. Lol

Although, like I said, by hand method it didn't do much, I can still see it.

If you're polishing by hand, even light scratches will take a bit of elbow grease to get out. The DA does all the work for you ;)

ScratchX is for isolated scratches only really. The reason being to what I understand is that it can leave a slight hazing to the paintwork so it's not ideal to use over large areas. Of course, if you polish it with a finishing polish and buff afterwards you won't get the hazing.

The problem is that some scuffs are behind the door handle which the polisher can't get behind, unless I take the handle off. because of where it is, it is also awkward to apply pressure on it.

I can use it on the bumper and boot lid though.

Only used a DA for sanding, but using a rotary certainly isn't any less tiresome a job than hand polishing, the difference is the machine polishing actually gets results.

how can you compare the tiresomeness if you didn't even bother hand polishing enough to get a perfect result ?

you can hand polish anything to the same level as a machine can it just takes a hell of a lot more time and elbow grease , i mean no fingerprints left amounts of elbow grease

the reason people still spend a fair time and effort with the rotary is because they are chasing better results than they where with their hands

anyone around manchester with a machine polisher? I can't even imagine trying to remove all my swirls by hand, and it makes me a sad panda.

I'm ready to get my interior back to new though now :D spent ages researching and these 2 products seem to get the best reviews by far, and I now have have more microfibre clothes than i can ever feasibly use, but cheaper than buying a few from Tesco at £3.50 each!

Shall be attacking it tonight if i get chance, and will take before and after photos :) hoping to de-shine my wheel after some cheap products added a glean to it :(

Can see the shinyness on the drivers seat in the 2nd photo and on the steering wheel in general.

Tried the leather cleaner on my light brown leather iPhone case, and it has come up like new despite me being nearly ready to throw it away as it was that dark and shiny, now it's really matt and smells amazingly leathery again.

Gotta agree with this. I did a patch on the roof of my car, the result was amazing but my god I was knackered afterwards. Can't imagine doing an entire car by hand.

I want clean my steering wheel with some leather cleaner but it seems like a lot of money to buy something just for the steering!

Stupid cloth interior! :(

The steering wheel was the first thing I cleaned with the Dr Leather wipes. Restored the colour and feel to a much more natural look. I wished I wore some disposable gloves though, as the smell on my hands was with me for about 2 days. :o

Really? After the plethora of products you have just bought you can't spare 13p per wipe to clean your steering wheel??

Doesn't this leave the wheel slippery? I'm always reluctant to use any sort of product on the wheel/gearknob/handbrake.
