I use an old measuring jug. The lance will hold 1 litre, and the ratio is 1:100. So I put 100ml of snow foam in and a cupfull of shampoo.

The rest is filled with warm water.

I use Autobrite HD Foam Lance and MagiFoam as it's highly recommended by Detailing World. They always have an offer on too, I picked up my lance, plus 5 litres of snow foam plus 1 litre of MagiFoam for £39 incl delivery

Yup, I did notice that but I needed it to arrive today (the only day in the next month I can accept delivery at home) so I ordered it from Clean your car when getting a couple of other bits. Will get through it and try MagiFoam next time.

I heard the Chemical Guys Citrus stuff is very good as well.

I spent a good few months researching and nothing comes close to MagiFoam according to DW. And the videos prove it!

Ok, compared to a decent snow foam, it's pretty poor.

It's like a Corsa works in getting you to B. But an E39 works getting you to B better.

Sorry, I don't agree that in any way it's poor. However comparing it to others remains to be seen, perhaps I'll try something different when this eventually runs out.

Ross, have you seen the side by side here?

BH Auto Foam does better at removing dirt there. I'm sure there isn't much between the 2 though.

Yeh I remember seeing that van picture, but I got a mixed response with some people saying the left side looked cleaner to them. And the BH was quicker than AB. Speed isn't key for me as I leave the snow foam on while I get into the small areas, so it's general still running down the panels 15 minutes later!

BH is good, but so too is AB.

Hey guys,

Thought I better get on board with this car cleaning malarkey so looking for a bit of advice on first bunch of purchases.

No hose pipe access (I stay in a top floor flat) so looking to use a watering can to rinse the car first before going about the car with the two bucket method.

So looking at getting:

10 litre Watering Can
2 x Stanley 14 / 3 Gallon Bucket
Meguiar's Gold Class Car Wash and Conditioner
Wolf’s Chemicals Nano Wheel Cleaner
Spray bottle for wheel cleaner
Wheel Brush
Meguiars Lambs Wool Wash Mitt
AutoGlym Aqua Dry Chamois
Couple of microfibre cloths

This is literally everything I will have to clean my car so am I missing anything?

Looking for more week to week cleaning rather than month by month detailing so leaving out the clay bars, wax, treatments for the soft top etc at the moment.

Had the car since Sept 2011 and it's maybe had a hose over it twice so looking to take better care of it :)

Don't bother with the chamois get a drying towel instead, I think there's currently a group buy for some decent looking ones on Detailing World.

You may want to look at something to cut through the dirt before going at it with the mitt. Otherwise you'll still have a lot of dirt on there when you come to placing the mitt on the paint work. Have a look at Autofinesse Citrus Power.

Noted about drying towel. Found a good source.

Regarding the Auto Finesse stuff, take it I'd just give the car a bit of a spray with this first before doing a pass with the watering can?

EDIT: Am I really just about to spend £90 on car cleaning stuff?!?!
