For hand polishing my mito I used megs scratch x and it seemed to reduce swirls quite noticeably. Admittedly a machine will do the job much better and would have probably removed them all and it took me ages to do. I washed, clayed, went over with scratch x working in as best I could and then covered what was remaining with SRP then went over with PB natty paste wax and swirls disappeared. The whole process took me all day and was hard graft. I wouldn't bother doing it again, going to invest in a DAS 6 for my birthday. Think I need to invest in some sealant too as that was a month and a half ago and they're creeping back. Need to raid halfrauds this weekend any recommendations on something they'd have on their 3 for 2 thingy they do? I need glass polish, tar remover and a sealant probably so works out nicely for the ole 3 for 2 they do.

I've had mixed results with this (mainly due to my own cackhandedness). One tip I will give anyone is to order extra applicators. They don't give you enough in the normal touch-up pack.

I sympathise with being cackhanded. I was toying with picking up some fine artist brushes as well this weekend as those little applicators clearly have a limited life so am thinking this will be the way to go. I'll probably do just one or two of the chips this weekend and if I'm really naff at it I'll leave them for someone like chips away to do. I understand the key is in the preparation more than anything.

Far enough! I'll see how it goes today, if it doesn't start raining again.

Today I bought:

  • 2 spongs
  • 2 buckets
  • XL chamois
  • 3 different microfibre cloths
  • car shamphoo
  • car polish
  • wax

Excellent!

Ditch the chamois and get a large microfibre drying towel like the one paradigm mentioned. :)

Drive clean everyone!

Thinking about getting a machine polisher. The question that always seems to pop up is DAS-6 or DAS-6 pro??

Is there much of a difference? or will the normal DAS-6 with good pads and polish do a great job?

I have decided it's time to invest in a machine polisher. I have been looking at the combo packs on CYC. The Meguiars G220 - Complete Sonus Kit combo took my fancy at £240. Is this a good package to take or is there anything better in that price range? Budget is £250 and i want a polisher + the bits that go with it and some liquids.

Also what do people use for cleaning windows. We have very hard water here and it's always a pain trying to keep the windows clear. Anyone have any glass cleaner/polishers they use that last?

Did mine today, but got too tired so will finish off tomorrow with some wax. Might post a photo then.

I've been doing loads of motorway miles in the last 6 months, and got loads of stone chips. I've touched them up today so hope they bonnet will look better from now on.
