Gave mine a bath and a couple of coats of Natty's Blue this evening.

So glad I've got a dark coloured car again, cleaning the silver one was a fruitless affair! With this one, I can get a proper shine going!

What's Nattys like for applying and buffing off by hand? Not had a dark coloured car before so looking at Nattys Blue and Black Hole Glaze.

I love it! Goes on with ease, and so long as you are using a clean cloth, will buff off with little effort, and minimal dust.

was given a sample of AF illusion the other day and today i got round to trying it

applies very easy as its very very 'wet' and removes very easy but visually i dont get the hype. certainly wont be forking out for a tub

maybe i have been too spolit with the bang for buck of fk1000p

Is there a good replacement for autosmart tardis? Don't fancy buying 5l of the stuff :p

After a recommendation on here I've been using Auto Finesse Obliterate.

I've found it works better than Autoglym Intensive Tar Remover and from what I've been told it won't dissolve a Tarmac driveway (I have gravel anyway).

Never quite figured out this view point, Tardis is generally regarded as the best and yes it comes in 5L containers but for only about twice the price of other tar removers that come in 1L. If you are set on not Tardis then AF ObliTARrate seems to be well regarded but I have never used to it to offer personal opinion.

Still cost more could buy a bottle of ironx for the difference. Also extra shipping costs from buying form two suppliers (N.Ireland)
I believe my local dealer has monthly car meets in a carpark in lisburn so would cost even more cash and time to try and track him down.

What would the point of buying ironx if you wanted to remove tar, if you wanted to remove iron deposits then fair enough but they serve two different purposes.

For those interested, B&M have jumbo good quality MF cloths for £1.99 (set of 3).

One side is textured like^ and the other side is smooth.

Hi all,

I am looking to do a big clean of the car this weekend, I have no cleaning materials at all. Where is the best place for me to go. I was just going to go to halfords to get everything I need but is there anywhere online that is better value?

It all depends on what you are trying to achieve. If you want to apply some properly decent wax, and use some of the better traffic film/contaminant removal solvents then you'll need to buy at least some of your kit from online stockists (think the likes of Bilberry wheel cleaner, Iron-X, Poorboys wax, a decent drying towel, etc)

If you are just going to wash, polish and wax using whatever you can get your hands on, then you'll get enough stuff from Halfords, and typically they have offers on some of the cleaning products anyway.

You may also find your definition of a big clean differs from that of some of the people in here. :p

What sort of budget were you thinking of seeing as you're starting from scratch?
