the dirt was from the arch rims... so can I wash the applicator pad with soapy water for next use and since the buffing cloth has wax residue and a small amount of dirt can it be used again without washing it?or must it be washed?

They didn't have any dye kits so will order the scuffmaster stuff. Bought some AG Leather cleaner though and I'm quite impressed, has improved the seats a bit (not perfect but there is 10 years of **** grime and wear on there!) but I'm really impressed at how much it's changed the steering wheel, it's completely matte now. Took a pic on phone but it was terrible, shall take a better one later.

Although that would get you brilliant results, it would cost you loads and that's just being lazy :p

This is getting silly now..I've just spent this afternoon cleaning and conditioning my leather too lol :)

I've used the Gliptone Liquid Leather cleaner and conditioner. It's definitely taken away some of the shine and the leather feels softer, although I could do with using the Scuffmaster kit on my top bolsters as well. Black shoe polish will have to do the job for now though.

That steering wheel looks much better though buddy. Mine used to come up pretty good after a going over with leather wipes, but it would be back to its shiny self again shortly after; I think it's the oils in your hands that does it. Would be interested in how yours looks in a week or two.

Once you matte up a wheel it will always return to the shinier finish not long after. Can't really avoid that. I tried many things on my old wheel for many years and only getting the wheel re-trimmed gave it that new look and feel again. Plus the thicker padding...

Too true..re-trim is the way :) I think Vox is doing all he can to convince himself he doesn't need it, but it's only a matter of time before he gives in :)

On a side note Robbie, I've just realised we've met in person before. 10 years ago you sold me a digicam on these very forums and we met up in the car park of the go-kart track in Gosport one evening to do the deal. Can't believe that was 10 years ago already!

I remember that! Although not the camera, was it the Jenoptic or the Sony Cybershot? Amazing how quick 10 years has gone with that in mind :)

Did a rinseless wash yesterday with the Dodo juice "low on eau" a couple of days ago as we have no outside tap here by our flats. Very impressed with the results - most dirt came off straight away and a quick wipe down with a towel polished up the car nicely. Took about 45 minutes to do the whole car (which was moderately dirty - plenty of leaves and a bit of bird poo!) and it came out gleaming afterwards - would highly recommend it!

Lol, anyone would think we're doing this deliberately! :)

Yeah I'm expecting it to shine in a few days or so, will just attack with cleaner again and repeat every time it's needed, you two are not helping my major want of a new wheel though!!! :p If I find myself with some spare cash it might get done, but a full wheel refurb is above that on the to-do list, and that's not going to be cheap :(

Exterior needs another coat of wax and the sun isn't shining that much atm, the neighbors already think I'm weird so might as well :p

Out of curiosity did you do this in direct sun? Had issue washing a black car the other day in the heat and it ended up covered in water marks, if a rinse-less wash can come out perfect in the sun it might be the answer!

I feel your pain..mine are slowly getting worse as the paint from a previous owners shoddy refurb slowly peels off in small pieces. It looks like they didn't acid dip the old paint off first before repainting them.

It's just going to have to wait until I get a new job though, which will hopefully be in the next couple of weeks :)

Just given mine a wash this morning as it's finally cool enough to bother.. Still worked up a sweat mind you

Found a bottle of 303 Aerospace Protectant that I completely forgot I bought.. Is this good for tyres? What's the best way to apply it for longevity?

Took them off to clean inside this morning and to clean the wheel arches. Will put pics up when on a PC again but the arches went from black to silver and the wheels are absolutely terrible inside, parts where there just isn't any paint

Where are you planning on getting yours refurbed?

Well if it makes you feel any better it got a bit breezy so dust ended up sticking to the water droplets and it looks crap now!

Ok kind of makes me feel a bit better :p

The wheel when it was removed:

And after a little wipe down:

Didn't use anything like IronX or Bilberry as thought it wasn't worth it yet.

Later I gave the exterior a wash with some CarPro Triple Wax stuff and then applied another layer of Colinite 476s, the beading is now rather epic.

They sounds quite similar to mine. A strip of balancing weights fell off my n/s rear the other week because the paint they were stuck to just peeled off :)

Not 100% sure where I'll be going for a refurb yet. The Wheel Specialist are well regarded locally and they have franchises nationwide, although they were pretty pricey even using a 4 for the price of 3 offer that Robbie had been emailed at the time. My gf's dad has used somewhere else locally for several of his cars and swears by them so may go there.

That's some awesome beading! I really need to do mine at some point.

Washed Today

With the cooler temp i gave it a go...

Snowfoam with Magifoam + Rinse
Zymol using Snowfoam Gun + Rinse, Then dried
SRP + Collinite 845

Anyone recommend a good mobile detailer in stoke on Trent? Picking up my new car in a couple of weeks and want it waxed and cleaned within an inch of its life when I get it. Dealers are crap at cleaning.

I would make the trip over to PW Pro with it (wish I lived as close!)

Depending on the condition of the paint from the factory you would want a new car detail or an enhancement detail if there are any minor paint defects.

Thanks. Just thought mobile would be easier than having to wait for them to complete the work. Makes it a day off work rather than a day working from home lol, and I'm lazy.
