Any tips for cleaning chrome trim (like the bits on here) and green moss/mould in my wing mirror gaps?

Would my car shampoo be enough? Heard someone mention about using a soft paintbrush and an APC but just want a second opinion.

Its called Astonish, and its a pound from the pound shop/wilko's, it comes as quite a thick paste, but it works fast and polishes up brilliantly.

Check out the rest of the Astonish range (not necessarily for the car) everything is very cheap and quite simply works, especially the kitchen cleaner and glass cleaner :)

I got my Tornado red Passat last week. Gave it a wash and wax on Sunday, used Megs Hyper wash, dried with a soft towel and Chemical Guys quick detailer, then waxed with Collinite 476.

I'm running out of Hyper wash, quick detailer and I need a wheel cleaner. Any recommendations? I like a quick detailer that acts as a drying aid.

It's a company lease car so I don't want to spend loads but want to keep it looking nice.

Edit - Also need a wheel brush. Wheels are VW Michigan

Wheel Woolies are the best brushes I've used, not cheap mind.

The 1" detailing brush is what I normally use for the face/nooks of the wheel
A standard wheel (or bog brush) for now to get inside the wheel/rear of the spokes - until I get some wheel woolies myself
A firm bristled brush for the tyres.

IronX will help rid any contaminants (not required on new wheels)
Bilberry is usually rated well for wheels, doing a good job on mine.

Using a decent sealant is what makes cleaning wheels a breeze, much like paintwork, if it's properly protected contaminants will struggle to/can't bond.

I'm a fan of Poorboys Wheel Sealant - and in honesty I haven't used anything else as I'm still on my original tub.

Thanks, ordered. Was only looking at them yesterday.

Is ValetPRO Bilberry Wheel Cleaner still rated?

Get the Angelwax Bilberry cleaner, they started it ;)

New car washing is soo easy :D

Last weekend she got her first clean after delivery a week before then. Simply some Duet Shampoo and a coat of the mind blowing Sonax Brilliant Shine Detailer, which everyone needs in their collection!!!!!!

I'm harping on about it as it's simply an amazing product, just have a look in the huge thread over on DW in the Wax/Sealant section.

Very nice :D Will pick up some Sonax with my next cleanyourcar order

Looking forward to giving my car its first proper clean this weekend. Might make it Friday evening if the weathers better. Love these late light nights!

with that beading and all that saharan dust I bet you had some funkay, brown, camo-esque pattern on the car after some downpours xD

but god damn that is sexy

The car was covered in it from the journey up from stoke on a small single car transporter :(

I monitored the forecasts and waited until the dust storms had died off before washing. But the awesome thing with this Sonax BSD is that the dirt gets trapped in/on the droplets rather than sticking to the car. It's then easy to give it a Pressure wash off.

Once fully protected with the Sonax Polymer Net Shield (PNS) and BSD used regularly every other wash, the car will likely just be washed using the Vale Pro Citrus pre-wash which after a 5min dwell would be pressure washed off.

No point in wasting time washing a car too often ;)

I did pop outside a few times during that rainy evening to see how the different intensities manifested themselves over the car's exterior....... Sexual Sadness :p

hahaha cool cool! yeah, when I had my escort (car.... not hooker) I used to wash it almost every weekend.... dunno how much point there was as the moment I'd leave my parents house, driving over the track would just put a thin film of dust all over the car xD

so from a small distance it was still gleaming and shiny... but run a finger across a panel and there'd be a nice brown splodge on your finger xD (car was silver btw :P )
