ah okay, thanks! :D wheres the best place for collinite? and whats the difference between those two numbers? new to all this detailing lark! :p

edit: just looked at both, which do you recommend? 476s or 845?

Everyone has to start somewhere :)

Cleanyourcar.co.uk are my favourite and have fantastic customer support and quick delivery.

476s is a paste in a tin, and can be difficult to apply and remove. 845 is a liquid and is easy to apply and remove. Apparently, 845 is a little less durable than 476s, but I haven't noticed it, and even if it was less durable, the fact that it is a liquid and can easily be topped up means it is now my go to wax.

845 is my recommendation. It is so easy and quick to apply a very thin layer to the panel. A few drops on a applicator pad should be enough to cover a whole door or half a bonnet, maybe even more, depending on how much you use.

Excellent advice! I shall grab myself some 845! Thanks for the detailed post :) :D this detailing stuff isn't cheap. But I guess it's definitely worth it :p

Yeah, its the initial expenditure really. 845 should last you years though, a friend is still on their first bottle that they got about 2 years ago :p

Thinking about changing our car and whilke i really didnt want to like white i actually quite liked it! So options are white or black. White just sounds like more work for cleaning (especially tar spots), anyone with a white car care to comment?

My only other concern is stone chips etc on trim which is typically made of black plastic so will be much more obvious

Ive had a black car in the past and i know they can look dirty quickly, especially when there is dust around.

Whatever colour you choose will get filthy after a week or two of driving. :p I chose white, personally. As if I did get any swirl marks or anything, I assumed it's harder to see on a white car than a black car. Got almost all my cleaning stuff ready for my car. Now I'm just waiting for a duller day to give it a proper clean.

I've had a variety colours and I found black to be the most high maintenance - the slightest dusts and it looks grubby. I do like white and the way it hides stone chips more than makes up for the tar spot issue in my opinion.

The only issue with white is if there are lot of fiddly edges in the grills and bumper (recessed distance sensors especially) they do collect dirt there and that needs more work to avoid spoiling the look.

If I had a choice of white or black I would go with the white every time (as long as its a nice bright white).

Next up is clay the whole car, get rid of all the swirl marks, polish it, and wax it, was planning on doing it today but the weather is not looking very kind :(

Very tidy - great colour for the S2K.

Thanks! only got the car Thursday so this was the first wash :) was covered in black dots, all over the paintwork, not sure if it was overspray or tar, but it took my 11-12 hours today to get the car looking like that and get rid of all the black dots.

If im honest i would have preferred to get a grey s2k but, the red one came up for sale local so i went for that :)

You guys have me sold on Sonax BSD, awesome stuff! I can see me spending a fortune on it.

Yeah I swapped them, the seller give me the choice. I liked the Rotas but preferred these, freshly coated Anthracite and spotless. I'm happy with the choice.

The Sonax just went on so easy, just adds that... je ne sais quoi :D

Going to remove the Scoobyclinic stickers etc. today, thankfully they are on the outside of the windows.

Any tips on how to get them off easily?

Well pulled the trigger on the white (XC60 R-Design Lux Nav) so its to late now! :) Pick it up next weekend. Better order some tar remover as its the only thing missing form my armoury of cleaning gear
