Where's the best place to buy car cleaning products from these days?
www.cleanyourcar.co.uk is generally the best, decent loyalty points system too.

I'd recommend a good APC such as Verso and a valet brush to get down inside the door.

Took me ages

Tried some wolfs deironizer - ok, probably wouldn't bother with again.

Autofinesse triple is pretty good, very easy to buff off without the dust of SRP.

Wheel woolies - not worth the price to my mind.

Bought and tried some citrus pre wash, really impressed. The car was absolutely covered with it being a dark colour and not having been so much as hosed down for weeks.

Used it in about a 1:9 concentration and it really shifted a good amount of crap without me even touching the car, could probably have left it as was and got away with it. Quick wash and a top up coat of Natty's blue and the car looks like someone might actually care about it again ( needs painted though...and a new badge...and whatever that is in the lower grille removed)

So, i really neglected my car over the winter and would like to get it looking decent again.

what would be your first steps at this task?

were talking caked on bird crap and black with dirt alloy wheels.

A really good wash :p

If you've got a pressure washer then it might be worth getting a snow foam lance and using that.

Rinse it down with hose.
Snowfoam.
Rinse.
Wash with shampoo (two bucket method preferably).
Clay to remove built up cack.
Possibly rinse and wash again, but shouldn't need to.
Seal the paint with a good wax or polish.

:D

thanks for that. got the snow foam and the 2 bucket wash with the lambs wool mit.

will give the clay a try. im tempted by the autoglym srp but the price is a bit steep. is the results worth the cost?

cheers

SRP at £10 a Litre is really not very expensive, Many people go for AF Tripple and that is around £8 for only 250ml.

Get some SRP. ;)

I used bought some Kleers tar remover the other day. Was fed up of the stuff available at most high-street places. All they seem to do is clean around the tar. I had to keep using my nail break the tar, then clean with the sprays rubbing very hard to get anything shifted. This is time-consuming,, hard work, annoying, and makes my fingers dirty :(
This new stuff is awesome! Quick spray onto the cloth, rub a bit, and away it all comes :D
Great product! make cleaning the car far more enjoyable!

I cleaned the Mrs car last night whilst watching the Brazil game, meant I could just give it a quick rinse and wash without having to dry it properly, before she sells it next week.

I am using Demon-Wash snow foam with the hose adaptor at the moment, seems to work quite well. I am sure its not as good as the more expensive foams with a pressure washer applicator, but I don't think my cheap nilfisk can provide the pressure needed for a decent snow foam, so i have never bothered with a proper lance.

Also, what do people use for cleaning interiors that does not produce some horrific artificial perfume stink? I would like something really mild and fresh rather than ott :)

A favour to ask; does anyone in Reading or Staines, or the near vicinity have a DA polisher I can borrow for a weekend please? I'll buy some new pads for it so it'd just be the machine, pretty please :)

I bought a load of products from CYC before the weekend and had a chance to try then out today. The wheels got cleaned with Bilberry wheel cleaner which was good but didn't get the really nasty pitted break dust off my wheels. I think I might need to get some chemical cleaner to get it off.

The Dodo Juice was very good at getting the car nice and clean and because you can really dilute it down it works out good value for money.

Then I used some Poorboys AIO. My car has quite a few swirl marks on it and it did a decent job of hiding them but I wasn't overly pleased with how difficult I found to get it off.

I finished it off with some Nattys blue and I've got a bit of a question about this. The top of the paste was quite hard, like a firm wax almost. This seemed to go on quite well. About maybe a centimetre below this is really started to break down. When putting it on a cloth it was like the paste had deteriorated. Small chunks came away and there was decent amount of liquid. Is this how it should be? It didn't go on particularly well but did haze a little and buffed off easily to a nice shine.

The car certainly looks better for the time I spent on it today but it does make you realise how many scratches, dints and rust spots there are on the car.
