Hi all,

I know this has been covered a million times and everyone loves different products but would like some help.

We now have 2 cars in the household that we want to keep looking tip top.

I have all the usual bits (washmitts, microbire drying towels, applicator pads, etc...) so just need some new products.

My car is Performance Blue and hers is Pacific Blue if it makes any difference.

So, my main aim is questions regarding Polish, Wax and interior products.

Interior - Looking at Zaino Z10 or Gliptone for leather, Poorboy's Natural Look Dressing for the dash, etc..

Wax - It's a minefield! Dodo Juice, Chemical Guys petes 53 or Colinte 476s ??

Polish - Was just thinking of AG SRP or should I be looking at something else?

Sealant - Do I need this? After Polishing but before waxing?

Thanks
Al

Colinte 476s seems very popular on here but never tried it myself.

For polishing by hand AG SRP should be fine...but remember with SRP you are only filling in the scratches/swirls.

For wax I use Natty's blue which is great to apply, but it might not last as long as you'd like through the winter

As above, if applying by hand srp will be fine but its just full of fillers - by machine I use a light cut menzerna polish and black hole glaze - but the civic has very soft (crap) paint

Autoglym HD wax or Extra Gloss Protection. No need for a wax AND a sealant...certainly not with either of these products. The EGP is one of the easiest treatments to apply.

I always polish with SRP then apply HD wax. Might clay if the paintwork isn't looking too great.

My car needs it's winter detail and wax top up. It's a 2014 tornado red Passat, I think there are some light swirl marks already.

I have a DA with Sonus SFX pads and Sonus SFX-1 & SFX-2, thought I had 3 too but can't find it at the minute. Any recommendations where to start?

I will also clay, then TRIX. I do have SRP if I need it, and will wax with 476 after, then I add BSD every couple of weeks or so.

Guys, my car in covered in spots of paint, **** nose where i have parked for it to happen but i have only just noticed it now it has dried up around here.

What can i use to get it off? Wish i could ctach a ****ing break lately....

A clay bar will take it off easily without harming the paint underneath. The easiest thing to do would be to buy the Autoglym clay kit that comes with everything that you need.

Being VAG the paint is probably rock hard but always safest to start at the beginning. I don't know the numbering order of Sonus off the top of my head but lightest cutting pad and polish, if it isn't getting the results move up through the polish and pads until you get the correction you desire. As for where to physically start, while working out the best pad / polish combo I always start on the bonnet as it is large, reasonably flat and easy to reach.

Maybe pointing out the obvious here but I assume you have checked whether it is gloss paint or emulsion. Emulsion should come off with just a thorough wash but gloss is going to need clay as suggested.

Sorry, missed this post. Yep, that is what you need. Worth watching a few youtube videos on it, but:

- work on a small area at a time
- use lots of lube :) (the detailing spray)
- use only a small piece of the clay, you should get 4-5 pieces from the block
- keep an eye on the clay surface and fold in as required

Whatever it is, the clay will lift it off better than anything else.

Rybo, I've not used Clay itself but have used the farecla g3 clay mitt.

From all reports from forums - Seems much easier / quicker than normal clay.
Slightly less chance of marring.

From my experience, works very well. (Smooth as glass paint)

Still need to use lube etc.

Unless you're 12 then you can certainly wrap your fingers around them. It just looks thick in photos but the added grip and feel is much better than "normal" thickness which is only some 1-2mm less.
