these products just seem to be a beading/water repellent. what i was after was a wax or similar to protect the new paint . Its candy blue if that makes any difference

Snaggle

Beading / water repellent is a visual sign of protected paint - so I'm not sure what you mean?

For a new car, something simple like super resin polish or auto finesse triple followed by a wax or sealant like collinite 476s, C2V3, tough coat or reload would be perfect for 3+ months

Ashamed to say I hadn't heard of this brand before, and then found this 'sample pack' for sale on eBay (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Gyeon-Det...ure-More-/181681633035?_trksid=p2054897.l4275)

Is it worth going for at that price (I am also picking up a new Ford Fiesta for the wife next week) or is the seller pushing his luck a bit here, do you think?

have a look at detailingworld for reviews on Gyeon Wetcoat and Gyeon Bathe+

You can get the discount codes for the various retailers on each retailer through DW such as http://www.i4detailing.co.uk/shop/gyeon-q2m-wet-coat-spray.html and

I used both on my R and has been great so far with the heavy rain, water beads of the glass, body and wheels.. :)

Can anyone recommend a decent vacuum that will be used purely for the car? Our house one is a standing unit that is overly cumbersome and doesn't have a decent suction power when using the nozzle. I'm not necessarily after one of the ones that are cordless/ran off the cigarette lighter, I'd rather use a standard UK plug and get more suction power as this will only ever be used at home on the drive.

Initially I was tempted by a Metro Vac Vac n Go, but the hose looks very short and like it could be a bit of a pain, so then the Vac n Blow caught my eye as, although it's 4x the price, it has a blower function too which would be useful for drying door shuts etc. Even accounting for the "gadget" factor, there's still no getting away from the fact that £200 on a vacuum just for the car is quite frankly ridiculous, so has anyone got any other suggestions?

Almost as ridiculous as spending £300 on something to dry the car :p

I have a £30 cheapo one (Beldray?)from Robert Dyas for the car which is alright. There are better ones out there but really depends how much you want to spend.

Starting getting some car cleaning kit... My cars beading so I'm unsure if that's a sign that the previous owner looked after it or if its just crap that was put on when was bought :p

Dyson hand held vac.

I use my upright Dyson and it works great, decent length hose, far faster cleaning mats by just running over them with the upright on the driveway. Suction on the hose is enough to be painful to the skin. Forget how much it cost - bought it ~7 years ago when I bought the house!

Just washed the cars, no point in drying as by the time I was done it was piddling it down :(

Least you got to wash them, mine is in need of a clean and it just hasn't stopped raining :(

Though must admit, I always feel like it's half a job if I don't get to dry it.

Black an Decker Pivot 18V LiON Vac - best £60 I've spent in a while. Use it all round the house and in the car.

Anyone on here use a water filter when car washing?

I live in a very hard water area, so drying the car straight after washing is an absolute must, or water spots form easily. Was thinking of getting hold of something like this: http://www.raceglaze.co.uk/400-litre-0ppm-car-washing-filter/

Apparently works very well, so much so that you barely have to dry the car at all if it's well waxed. Quite expensive, but I hate drying the car, so anything to make that stage quicker and easier is a big bonus to me. But I'd like opinions and experiences.

I don't use a water filter when washing my car, although I struggle with the exact same issue with the water spots. £100 seems like a lot just to avoid having to dry the car. :/

So after my exhaust's rear box clamp rotted away last week I took a proper look underneath my 307 and nearly had a heart attack at the amount of rust (which isn't really evident even from looking at the wheel arches, you really need to crawl underneath next to the back box). Should I put it down to the amount of salt I've driven through this winter and only washing the car twice in that time?

Would some regular cleaning actually prevent this kind of rust in my next car (getting rid of this thing before it disintegrates)? I'll never have the time to do it every week but will spending half a day every month/fortnight and buying some car cleaning stuff myself (instead of previously just paying someone at the local place to spray it with one of those hose things... Probably a terrible idea?) make a big difference to the lifetime of the parts?

Lastly, how do you clean the muck off the underside of your cars?

E: or do I just need to accept the fact that cars get rusty, there's not much you can do to stop it except not drive?

The gun is broke on my nilfisk 130 and the hose looking past its best. Does someone do a compatible gun/lance with 10m hose, preferably made of metal. I'm having bad thoughts about buying a kranzle, they look like the Ferrari of pressure washers lol.

Best product for the grey bits? Make them blackish again?
