Can someone help spec me some car cleaning gear from amazon please?

Finally got a car worth taking care of (GT86), but a bit overwhelmed with all the products available.

Do I need clay? Wax? Something else? What's the purpose of each?

Tyre stuff?

Product for the interior?

Thanks :)

They were just looking for a reason to lock it, it was still very much on topic as people were still talking about rebranding products

Exactly that. They have to write something so they just think of something and write that :p

why dont we put our tin foil hats on guys and say the real reason they locked an 11 page thread?

Ok tin foil hat on, the real reason is there are too many people on the forum who have financial links with re-selling rebranded products and it's best to keep a lid on it :p

What am I saying, don't think there is a need for a tin foil hat here :D

Detailing World is full of businesses who are Swissvax Linked. Charging high prices because Swissvax products charge them. If customers find out that Swissvax products aren't worth the premium then they're not going to go to the Detailing Businesses who charge the premium for them to be used. These detailing businesses pay DW to advertise etc and if DW doesn't keep them happy they wont pay DW. Quite simple.

Regarding the GT86, what colour, what age and a brief history? Has it been washed by EUs, stealership? Any coatings?

How old is your gt86? colour?

3 Years old, red.

Sorry, just noticed this.

Only one previous owner, not sure how he washed it. 28k miles.

EU?

No coatings or form of protection that I'm aware of. I've read on the GT86 forums that the paint can be a bit fragile on them though.

3yrs old so it's going to be full of defects.

I'd say a decent detox and filling the swirls and then a nice wax is whats needed personally...

Going to want everything to do the 2 bucket method, something with filling properties and a nice wax.

Do you want a durable wax that will last months or something that looks great but not so great on the durability?

e; EU Hand Car Washes :p

This is an okay video on the two bucket method (don't like his drying technique):

This one is much better:

ubertiger. you want to think how far you want to go. you can get yourself a da machine some pads and compound and correct the paint yourself. or you can pay someone to do it for you.

right now you just don't want to make the car any worse. so 2 bucket method and either a microfibre mitt or lambs wool mitt. i prefer the lambs wool personally.

Just went to wash my car as it's finally meant to be dry for 2 days and what happens? It starts pouring down! love black cars but when there dirty and it rains every day despite the fact it's supposed to be summer it gets annoying.
I honest think we had less rain in the winter

Interesting, I'd like to try this Hydrate stuff as I don't usually dry my car afterwards, too scared I'll add more scratches.

Just bought a new Nilfisk to aid my washing but I've been too busy enjoying the sunny weather to wash the car :D

I really want to try the AMMO stuff but we have zero UK reseller  It costs stupid amounts to get their products over here for the average customer it's just not worth it

His prices are in line with the usual stuff. He also knows what he's talking about and only sells products he uses much like ADS (which is very successful) as opposed to Chemical Guys who sell anything that will make them money (looking at you overpriced water blade)
